Vicenza leather in new Aero is inconsistent

My new Eastman horsehide G-1 has the exact same mismatch where the outer sleeve panel has a ton of grain and wrinkles while the inner panel is pretty smooth and boring. I only noticed this the other day after wearing the jacket nonstop for couple weeks since I received it.
This doesn't bother me since they put the boring leather where it was pretty unnoticeable, perhaps there is a method to their madness.

To me the differences in leather in different panels is one of the cool factors of leather. It's always evolving.....give it a month and it will change....lol

If you want a jacket where all the leather looks the same... get one made of corrected ( junk ) leather. Quality leather jackets all have discrepancies in some of there panels.

The sleeve of my eastman a2 consist of two totally different leather (color, texture), I am sure the company knows what they are doing, but for a jacket cost more than 1k, I am not happy with this.

Is it a Monarch? If so that is apparently the way some of them were made. I did not like it and after talking to ELC I sent it to them and they re dyed the backs of the sleeves.

This sort of thing doesn't bother me as long as the different leathers are used in the same places, i.e.; the same combo is the same on the other sleeve, other side panel, etc.

Due to visit ELC very soon for a new A-2 (RW or Monarch contract).

A couple of weeks ago I sold my old ELC RW A-2 on two counts:

A) Shoulders / chest were a bit too snug, up-sizing now from a size 46 to 48.

B) I found the HH a bit 'flat' & 'uniform', I now want a jacket with more 'grain' (character), hopefully the current 'Warhorse' hide will do that.

Going back a while my tastes would have been different. I had a G-1 a few years back made by Cirrus & I really didn't like the different textured panels on that jacket (goat). Moved that one on

My Shinki Ventura is like that as well as my Aero 50's HBD. There's a "pattern" to the panels, and I like it.
JC put some heavier panels on the back of the arms that get more wear on the elbows. I would wager it was on purpose and I like the way the different panels are aging honestly.

Sure thing and I apologize if I sound a bit preachy here, not my intention in the least.

I was worried about the same thing when I started with the stupid jackets but it's really not a big deal and soon, you'll all but forget about it.
It's virtually impossible to find a quality jacket that's perfectly uniform all around. Some makers will try to match different parts of the jacket with panels of similar characteristics; like for instance, having a smoother and thicker panels for the upper sleeve parts, grainier and softer for bottom sleeve panels or for side panels, so on, so forth - but finding a jacket that's entirely perfectly matched is damn near impossible and ultimately, not something one should pursue.

And also, oftentimes, variation in the grain and leather will not be apparent to the tailor who made your jacket and these certain inconsistencies will start to appear only after you've worn the jacket for a while, even though it has left the factory and arrived to you looking all neat. These guys are not really leather experts and they can't know how a certain panel is going to turn up once it's seen some use. Again, that's leather for you.

I agree, I'd love to hear a professional's take on this one.
A good friend of mine makes leather purses and handbags for a living. He and I have discussed the challenges presented by trying to use every square inch of a hide while also trying to cut around any imperfections or defects.

This is a whole different ballgame than the OP's subject, which anyway had to do with Aero. It's hard to believe BR would send this out to a customer unless it had been approved beforehand. It's interesting, but I'd have flipped if I wasn't expecting it.

Yes, I did returned that jacket. That is a most drastic example I have in terms of mismatched panels.
