Has anyone else had problems making contact with Vanson recently? I sent two mails over the past two weeks, both gone unanswered so far.. Very untypical from my years long experience dealing with them…

I contacted them about six months ago about one of their jackets I bought on ebay and have yet to receive a reply. I sent two emails total a few months apart but nothing so far. I haven't tried calling yet

From my collection of Vanson Comp stuff, I have concluded that they really mean "late late" 90's/early 2000's possibly. I've spent a silly amount of time buying/selling to find those grail type Comps, and they are quite stunningly different. To be fair though, that's definitely not the only years, there seems to be one off exceptions, like any "rule"....
Looking at a few secondhand at the moment, one from 2006 and the other from 2013 or earlier, any insight onto the mid 2000s and early 2010s era of CW?? Thanks!

My latest Vanson Maverick is in the lab. I love the jacket on the whole. Absolutely perfect type 3. The only thing I loathe is the tiny, banal collar.

It really doesn’t do the jacket justice and reminds me of the awful collar attached to the enfield.
I decided to remedy that by building a snap on leather collar, utilizing the streamlined vest snap. I replaced the snap that accepts the vest with a standard 5/8. Not quite finished with it as I need to finish the edge and sew anchor buttons into the liner. I could simply add more snaps but I want this to be totally removable and leave no trace. This collar shape or something near it should be the standard IMO. Otherwise I think this jacket is one of Vanson best.

Love the longer collar Ton. I also really dig the Maverick. Kind of the opposite from the Iron Heart one which is so long in the sleeves and body. The lack of handwarmer pockets doesn’t bother me but a surprising number of people see it as a deal breaker.

Agree on the Enfield collar…it looks ok when up but just awful and stubby when in the normal position. I added about an inch to it for the modified Enfield we have in the shop for that reason.

Edit; pressed send too soon. Seeing this makes me want to add an inch to the collar on the Maverick too

I had asked Kim about doing this and they would but I was told “it will take a really long time”. So I figured if I couldn’t live with it I’d dig into my bag ‘o scrap and make lemonade out of lemons!

Yeah they’re running like a 4+ month lead time right now, hopefully it can come back down. Dunno how that translates to single custom orders / modifications

Granite Roma. Collar is hair on sheep, cabretta leather. Granite is no longer offered as the supplier couldn’t reproduce the quality of the initial batches. Same for the olive Roma.
This makes me so glad I ordered my custom Olive Roma when I did. RIP to the Granite Roma build I was planning. I really hope they can manage to expand their leather selection back toward something more interesting again.

Finished up the collar condom. I did end up putting snaps on the inner leather lapel facing. There just wasn’t any other way to do it. It snaps in the same the fuzzy collar snaps in on the model E. I like it.

So here's an interesting one I found:
https://www.vinted.fr/items/8973995417-ald-vanson-leathers-pony-hair-bones-jacket
"Purchased for €3600."
Up for 1000eur.
That's some serious pricing for a Vanson, even if it is a colab. High end designer brand price tier here.
Extremely interesting one at that, although the back is surprisingly meh.

I actually prefer the back to the front.

In my opinion, that pricing is completely out of touch with reality. Anyone that paid €3600 for that jacket needs their head examined!

I've always naturally pictured Type III's with a more 70's cut collar, and I think this compliments the shoulder to waist taper with some added design forethought. The color contrast in natural light is perfection! Nailed it.
