I ordered Horween Pinnacle from The Tannery. Vanson recommended I order 48 sf for my size 42 custom Ike. Which leathers are you considering

I was considering some chromexcel horse fronts. What size are the hides from the tannery? Looks like it doesn’t really say

That’s a great question. I just told them I needed 48 ft.² for a jacket and they sent it directly to Vanson on my behalf. I was considering CXL also. Often wonder how different my jacket would be if I had gone with that instead.

Sounds like it’s pretty common for Vanson to do then. Do you have a picture of it?

This jacket is based on the Ike pattern. I had them remove the flap pockets on the front, added a chest pocket, and remove the zippers on the cuffs.

Pinnacle is extremely soft and comfortable right away. It drapes right away too, no stiffness at all. It looks more matte in certain lighting but overtime is supposed to burnish and take on a glossy sort of deep shine in. I guess time will tell.

Is that pinnacle HH? And is the black more matter or shiny? Hard to tell from the pics

Yes, it’s Pinnacle. It looks shinier in certain lighting and more matte in other lighting (which you can see in my photos).

That came out great. What size jacket is it?

Congratulations, that jacket came out smoking. I like it better without the flap pockets and the piping, so good choice.

I’m thinking I’ll have them
Make me a Maverick that’s more cropped for the classic trucker jacket look. Are they easy to work with?
I had a great experience working with them. But I was lucky to have had a relationship with my local motorcycle shop (who I purchased two complete Vanson riding suits, and two other jackets, not to mention the bikes and maintenance service). So, they were able to get different jackets for me to try on to nail which size/model to start with. So, the shop took care of that and I worked with Anthony and Kim on the details. They’re really nice people and knowledgeable about their craft.
