The original painting is in the collection of American regional art at the Denver Art Museum. I may check it out, seeing how I’m a member and as such I don’t need to reach for my wallet before entering.
EDIT: Now I’m unsure as to where the original painting is housed as I’m reading conflicting reports. Is it in the American Museum of Western Art, which is also in Denver and has some affiliation with DAM? Or is it in the Smithsonian? I’ll figure it out.

I thought so, too, although Curry isn’t my favorite of the American regionalists.

There’s a lot going on in this painting. Note the men, and men only, gathered around the fire, while the women, in the cabins, and tending to “womanly” tasks. The children, those older than infants, are free to play.

What little I know of Curry has me doubting he was making a statement about stringent gender roles, leastwise not a disapproving one.
