What stops me wearing one is the brim, not because it is... short or tiny. It's because I would prefer a flatter brim.I'd like to try a top hat but I'm not sure I would buy one.
You'd have to flatten one to get what you want. What stops me wearing one is the brim, not because it is... short or tiny. It's because I would prefer a flatter brim.

I don't like the "victorian" brim (or whatever it is called) on a topper.Calling BS on this, Joao. Whoops, being mean again.
Start them young

Guessing Date 1900-1910 (could be as late as 1920) My Great Grandfather (and Great Grandmother) and his all time favorite horse . He was proud of that horse .

I've been browsing the Library of Congress photo archives, and as a Cubmaster, this popped out at me. I love the different bashes in the campaign hats, and how they are obviously much softer than the current military and police campaign hats. I'm looking for both a traditional felt campaign hat like drill instructors wore, to wear for scout ceremonies, and an earlier 1911 hat to bash like the scout fourth from the left for hikes and campouts. I may use an Akubra Boomerang or Coober Pedy for the latter.
From the Harris & Ewing Collection (Library of Congress):
There is a campaign hat thread here on the Lounge. It contains a tremendous amount of information.Yes; I'm a keen fedora wearer, but know little about westerns and military hats. I wouldn't have an issue doing a custom hat, but I'd have to find a hatter who does that kind of work. Major Mike is an obvious option.
