This is no duplication, I keep telling myself!
If I have a look in my wardrobe, I see a lot of different N-1 jackets, each has it's place. But when my wife has a look into my wardrobe, she sees a lot of same jackets lol.
The Mil-Tec is what it is, I rock it without caring about stains, rips and tears like the old seamen would. It's looking good and even better with time. A Real Mc Coys or Freewheelers on the other hand is a jacket I would nanny and baby and maybe rarely wear but adore looking at as a possesion of it's own.
Lateley some brands seem to have jumped on the train and believe they can put moon prices on things like that. When a RMC is really worth it, some ar not.

For example, take a look at this one:

It's what it is, a simple cut, simple components like waxed canvas (55% cotton, 45% Polyacryl, they even call this Gunmaku!), polyester teddy fleece lining, YKK standard zipper. simple riveted buttons. Construction and production wise it's not better than any mall jacket.
And they ask over 700 Dollar for it. For this money you can get proper dense jungle cloth woven on the old machines, sewn on period correct military spec buttons, M43 Talon Zipper or Waldes Zipper and fantastic Alpaca fur lining and reach the spheres of RMC, Buzz Rickson and so on.

In this respect, Silvermans and Mil-Tec are honest jackets. They don't try to sell glass for the price of diamonds or brass for the price of gold. The Pike Brothers is honest, too. Pike Brothers use high end materials, fantastic workmanship and are priced fair. If they only would tweak their cut and refine their color.
