Beautiful Borsalino, Daniele. The bow style is unusual for Borsalino. Very nice.

Beautiful hat Daniele. Wonderful color

Happy New Year
Thanks Stefan and Joe. The Borsalino Amiata has a particular color, I don't know why and a "special ribbon, but it is too wide for my head.
An unusual event :)

Hello anyone. I was requested from @Steve1857 to post here a particular Borsalino Giuseppe hat I have got, from a discussion in the Borsalino fu Lazzaro thread. I think this hat to be a real wonder. Obviously it is clear that it needs a heavy restoration and it absolutely needs to be put in shape (That's why pictures only show it with the crown open). I have bought it just only a month ago, so I still have to find the time to put my hands on it.
I am pretty sure this hat comes from the second half of the 1920s, also because the size label is still glued on the sweatband inside; anyway, it has a very very wide brim, and a relatively low crown and ribbon. I have rarely seen shapes like these before. I am looking forward to discover how beautiful it will be when it will be ready!
The color codes from the inside labels are "Argento - c.Nera - X Cronaca" - and it was sold from the Antonio Bronzini hat shop in Novara, Piemonte, northern Italy.
Do you passionate collectors and hat lovers agree with what I have stated or not?

It was Stefan @stuer who asked you to post this one in the Borsalino Brotherhood thread, not me.

He saw you had a Borsalino. I thought you had a G.B. Borsalino fu Lazzaro.

Please post a photo of the label under the sweatband, if there is one.

The paper label puts it in the time frame you mentioned, Francesco.

Stefan and Daniele will hopefully add to your post. They're the true Borsalino experts.

Great find! I think that is a good time estimate. Here is a thread on Borsalinos with Celled Paper Labels which I need to update.

It's fantastic and especially good to see one in a lighter colour. Like the others have said: the time frame of late twenties or maybe early thirties seems about right.

Super find! Besides the worn ribbon doesn't seem in bad shape I think

Color of the lead (Pb). In person it has some dark steel-blue hints. I always thought the star system was meant for the US market only, probably not. Nice short velour and thick felt
Very nice Borsalino Panos. Plumbeo is an adjective to indicate something that has the color of lead. The phrase "Cielo plumbeo" is often used in Italian. Fabrizi is a shop in Rome, a tourist city par excellence and "Leo" was a sub-brand used to give "uniqueness" to the Borsalinos sold there. Most went into the hands of tourists, you can see how many are on the American market, therefore there are profusion of "Mink - Visone" and stars to show quality

Looking for some help identifying the age of a Borsalino I inherited. My grandmother told me it was purchased in about 1948. Some folks on a different thread recommended I bring it to the experts. Can someone give me some direction on the age of this hat?

It's a bit later than that. As far as we know this type of label was used from about 1954 until 1960 and we haven't seen the ta/ludora model with any other label. The full colour name is "avorio" (ivory).

One of the hats bought in 2022 left waiting to be shown to fellow FL.
HOMCafro 6.jpg

It is a particular hat for the Italian market due to its shape and colour
HOMCafro 8a.jpg
Borsalino Qualità Extra Superiore size 6 French point, 59 cm. EU or 7 3/8 in US.
HOMCafro B.jpg

The shape is that of a lobbia or homburg with the brims curled and short, without a ribbon to edge them. What is called Lord hat often here. The ribbon is the same color as the felt.
HOMCafro Etichetta carta.jpg
Gulaela is the type in the Borsalino denomination, Cafro is the color indicated, but it is particularly reddish compared to a Borsalino of the same color that I wore a few weeks ago. Borsalino mysteries.
HOMCafro 1.jpg
The hat is very light and above all particularly well preserved.
HOMCafro C.jpg
Measurements are: the brim at 5cm, the ribbon at 4cm and the open crown at 13.5cm.
This is one of my favorites in the Borsalino collection, without a doubt

I think it's a beauty and I like the reddish tones in the colour. Gulaela is a homburg model; I wonder if it ever had a brim binding.

Borsalino Dellasca. The third of my three Borsalino family hats from mid December.

20230110_150135.jpg

11.5cm crown up to the front crease.

6cm overwelt brim

20230110_150149.jpg
2.2cm grosgrain ribbon in the same colour, Pineta (forest pine).

20230110_150318.jpg

The paper label puts this one at somewhere between 1936 to 1953 (thanks to Stefan's impressive research)

I'm thinking 1940s, either side of WWII.

20230110_185103.jpg
It's a snug 5 1/2 punti with a very nice reeded dapple sweatband. Seems to have lost its sweatband bow, though.

Bindslev was a well respected furrier in Odense, Denmark's 3rd largest town.
