The BORSALINO BROTHERHOOD

Dear Borsalino lovers, here's a puzzle to solicit your suppositions.
In this Borsalino is missing the paper label and the size indicated is 6 equals 59 cm. or 7 3/8 in the US

The hat is much smaller than indicated, it is about 56 to 57 cm.

The size looks original and the hat for its lining and prints on it is almost certainly built and sold before or during World War II in Zagreb - Croatia

Historical events indicate that until almost the end of the war there was a link between the fascist regime and the ustasci of Ante Pavelic, after 1945 Yugoslavia entered the iron curtain and had stormy relations with italy until the seventies.
So it is difficult to think of a post-war Borsalino.

Also the sweatband, 5.5 cm height speaks a language to date it before the WWII
The color is gorgeous, if anyone has an idea wchich colo is, it is asked to make us known, it has a wonderful contrasting ribbon

The proportions are: brim at 5 cm. and crown low point 12 cm.

It is one of the most interesting Borsalino I saw in my life even if it don't fit me

The liner emblem I've seen on borsalinos from the sixties and the folds in the liner I've seen in hats from the seventies (like the one in the pictures below from 1979). The sweatband however seems to suggest a much earlier date. Strange indeed.

I bought a Civil War Uniform from a friend and he threw in a hat he had been using for free.
Low and Behold, it was this little beauty. A little beat up but still in decent shape.

Stefan it is true this emblem was used for years in Borsalino as the G.B. Borsalino fu Lazzaro brand until some years ago.
In this case it has another different printing from the one used in sixties and seventies.
It is more tridimensional with the colors that seems to be on relief and the internal finishing as stitches are more accurate, plus the height of sweatband suggests me it is before the WWII.
The main reason after the inspection of the details are the historical events that allow me, I'm not so generous with the age of Borsalino, to say they came from the thirties or very early fories, then there was a war
The same is for this Homburg sold in Bratislava and restored in BSHW laboratory

I literally paid $50 dollars for the entire uniform and the hat. At the time, all the equipment as pretty dirty, so I didn't even put the hat on as it was in a plastic bag. When I got home and started cleaning everything I was shocked at this hat. It's a Borsalino Alessandria possibly pre-1985 as it states, "Original House". Other than that I know nothing about this hat, as I've never owned a Borsalino before.
Sweatband is in great shape and I think the hat might be in good enough condition to be worth a decent re-block.

look for a label under the sweat and get a picture of it if you can ...

looks 50s to me ... I think that is a safe guess based on what I see ... could be a little earlier or a little later ... the tag will possibly tell more

but I am pretty sure that angular liner seam was gone after the 1950s ... am I right @carouselvic ?

I found this along with another tag that I'm pretty sure was the original owner from El Campo, Texas. Thanks for the help

This tag does indeed suggest early to mid fifties. And if it isn't too badly soiled it would definitely be worth a refurb.

After the metal coloured Borsalinos (too bad there aren't any more of them) here's one I haven't posted before. Borsalino Averla, size 58, 6,5cm brim and 12 cm crown at the pinch, unlined. Very thin and dense felt that could stop a bullet. I had two of these (this one was certainly the better one, but too large for me). Hated to let this one go, but I'm glad I still have the other one. Very versatile colour. Late fifties to early sixties.

Thanks very much for the look! To my inexperienced eye it doesn't look in bad condition at all. Sweatband is in great shape with little signs of wear and the felt has no tears or stains aside from one really tiny dark dot towards the front.
