I think Steve is right on the money... and a beauty. Thanks for posting, Che.
Awesome. Good to know. Is that the case with most Borsalino hats? The first two numbers on the paper tag in that format?1979
I've got 3 others on the block. I'll take some pics.No it only applies to hats made sometime around the mid 1970s into the earlier 1980s when the company was sold and the old factory closed. Your hat was made in the old factory and still of very high quality.

I don't know if anyone replied , but go to australiangear.com and at the very end of the Akubra hats the RM Williams is it , Depp's photo , everything. I'll double check to be sure that's the site .I have a CD in Taupe Fawn (fantastic lid, but not the mid-brown color I desperately seek), and a Borsalino Como in mid-brown. Both are GREAT lids. Problem is, I prefer wide brim hats, so the Como doesn't see much action. I will say that the Akubra is classy yet ******proof, while the Como just screams formal wear to me. I'm hoping an Alessandria will be the best of both worlds.
I'm looking (SERIOUSLY) at a Modern Borsalino Alessandria (TAR), and know there are variations in colors (even the same color , due to batches) , but would any in the Brotherhood post some pictures of Taupe , Brown , Dark Brown , Dark Grey , and/or Steel Grey that I could see ? Black is out , and Bencraft is out of Light Grey in my size . I would really appreciate it . Thanks in advance for the help before I pull the trigger . And I guess I should say , Tell me what I'm seeing . Thanks again .
