Thought it would be interesting a start a "won't sell" thread, for folks to share actual experiences with jackets they have either owned (sorry about your experience) or followed on a trading site such as ebay (maybe it was for the best that something got away).
To roll this ball off the precarious cliff - I will self admit I'm a clearance rack "junkie." My condition has improved in the past ~ 10 years or so, in large part due to FL and being able to see, read about other people's experiences. Plus I have just narrowed the focus a lot more as to what I like and will or will not buy. That said I've made some huge blunders, and a couple of them are still with me.
Blunder #1 - The ill fitting, impulse purchase -
With no disrespect to it's maker, I bought a jacket a few years back, brand new while visiting an un-named shop in Illinois. (Keeping this one quiet as they did nothing wrong, I simply did). This jacket is nearly 32" long in the body, and only 23" long in the sleeves., Plus it's a bomber jacket. Anyone who knows me on this forum knows my only bomber jackets I have & wear are Carhartts. Else I'm out of there. So why did I do it? Did I maybe feel bad for the jacket and it's seller? It's this one and headed to a local Goodwill...
Blunder #2 - Too many patches and too much personalization -
Its been said that "rarely is one man's dream - anyone else's." (Unknown) In this instance I offer up my failed 2023 experiment with a Jimbo Leather jacket as the prime example of a test gone wrong. It was a bit small & short in the sleeves for me. But the leather was amazing, the graining on it was something to behold, but it had a patch problem. As in way too many patches and way too specific. I am not a Harley Owner, I have no intention upon owning one, and this one did not fit right anyway. It DID sell - in a consignment shop in Iowa City. But not until I gave it over to them to do it. No ebay or FL interest at all. At least I didn't loose very much money on it.
There are more that I'll pull up and add, but what are your situations that are similar? Photos & details welcome, and let's have some fun and a few laughs. Really, what else can we do? This is a collecting site, and sometimes things just go sideways!
