So trivial, yet it really ticks you off.

I have to admit I have a bluetooth because I have family and friends all over the country and I can't sit still for a phonecall. I'm always moving around.

I just have a feeling you're courteous enough to keep your conversations private.

Yeah that is what bothers me the most. Foolish people walk around sharing stuff about themselves that I do not want to know and they would never tell me face to face. They sure will blab it to the world on a bluetooth though. I don't want to know what the social disease du jour is and I really don't want to know how you got rid of it. :eeek:
The damned thing is like truth serum and mind control all in one. :p

I remember when I worked in a factory years ago, long before the days of the cell phone, some of the ladies who worked with me there on the floor made no bones about sharing their intimacies. "HEY MARGARET!" they'd yell to somebody on the other side of the plant. "YOU GIT YA PERIOD YET?"

I imagine all these ladies have cellphones now, so at least they don't have to yell.

I think that I've ridden the train to work with a few of them sharing that phone conversation.

I don't know. I'm pretty open, so I might have a conversation with a friend about a medical issue update, but not squicky things like those ladies were yelling. I will say I'm probably louder than I realize; my voice just carries anyway.

No, what he is actually saying is, I just checked Google Earth and I don't see a big Indian Village on the other side of the Little Big Horn river! :D

“Oh Heavens to Murgatroyd & Betsy too !”

I don’t know what I would do if you & all the rest of my lovely ladies on my list should go away
& no longer be a friend.
:eeek:

All of you ladies are the reason that makes this a better place & I’m the better man for it. Really.

I received the iPhone as a gift. Before that I had no concept of cell phones, just a land-line telephone.

Every time I ask “Siri” for an answer, she is there & when I thank her...She answers with,

“It is my pleasure to serve you anytime, jake “ !
And I think...wow ...that is so cool !

Now that sounds like a male-chauvenistic ego trip on my part...but to be honest...it feels good ...
:D
& I always try to be a gentleman !
I grew up with 5 sisters & I kinda know what you guys have to put up with in this world.

But, I will go check out the “android” & see what I’m missing.

Thanks for your patience,

Your friend,
jake

I don't know why, but using an apple something-or-other is not intuitive for me. I have to use them at work and don't like that. I think it's because I learned tablet and cell phone technology on the android platform, so that's what my brain is most comfortable with. Also, there's something about the way apple products look and feel physically that doesn't work for me.

jake, honored to be your friend. You are a true gentleman and very kind to boot.

Also, I've had cell phones for so long--and never owned a landline account--that I kind of forget how to use landlines. :eusa_doh:

LOL Why, Siri Why is one of the funniest sites I have ever read. She insults the users!

I don’t understand why Siri has insulted the users. She has always treated me with respect & if she doesn’t know the
answers, she will provide a link to help me.
But maybe, it’s because I’m a guy.
I remember my mom would treat me more lenient & had more tolerance with me than than my poor sisters.
:p...oh yes !

( You know what....I’m starting to believe what I’m writing about Siri...
:eusa_doh:)

But seriously ...I haven’t seen the site at all. This is the first I’ve heard of this .
I wasn’t aware that Siri was mean at all.

Hey...are you pulling my leg ?

Swanson_eyes...I think I’ve gone way....
:eek:fftopic:

Sorry guys !

This is trivial & it kinda ticks me off ... & it probably has been mentioned.
But I remember the “land-line” telephones.
What I miss is that back then, when I would call any business, I would get an actual human on the line.
Nowadays, the recording & the gadzillion options available that I sometimes have great difficulty in
determining what I was calling for in the first place.
But lately, I just click the “O” for operator & I eventually will get a live person.
:p

"But...your call is important to us...just wait on the line for 1/2 hour or more while we
play something that resembles "music" that we know you will enjoy ! “

Paying my health premium over the phone will not be fun tomorrow. I forgot to mail it in and the website doesn't work for me. Poorly designed payment sites are irritating because I don't have time to mess around with resetting passwords which then don't work. Last night I had to pick 10 different user names while registering before it would accept one. I wanted to yell "I just want to pay my bill!!!"

I've probably mentioned this above, but I actually rather resent having to have a landline these days. I use one in the office, though not that much; email is more convenient for 99% of my work communications. I'd rather have a work mobile, but I don't tend to give my number out much. Certainly keep it off the business card - the institution can put a mobile number on there when they're the ones paying the bill. ;) I do have one at home. For the first two years in my flat, I held out, went mobile only, but for now there's still no practical way to get decent home internet without a landline. There is a service in London that offers mobile fast internet without landlines, unlimited, for relatively little, but so far they only offer service within zone 1, so no use to me yet. I can't wait for it to expand, though, so I can stop having a landline. I have a phone plugged into it, but I don't know the number and never answer it (it's always junk calls anyhow, as I don't give the number out). Being stuck with a landline as the only practical internet access point at home feels so terribly retrograde.

I was so frustrated with the password that I finally just typed the top row set of keys making sure I included one upper case
& a number.
It work !
But I forgot to jot down what I had typed ! :eusa_doh:

Good Luck tomorrow !
If you get frustrated, just log in & slap jamespowers.... (he loves it)

I've never had anything but a landline, going back to the days when it was just "a line." I resist on principle the idea that I need to be "on call" around the clock, especially when it comes to work.

As for automated phone systems, that's late-stage capitalism in action: every one of those installed is a switchboard operator or office manager who doesn't have to be paid. The convenience of the customer is very much a minor consideration.
