The following pattern is one my mom and I are working on. The pattern is not printed on, just the blank peices, so it is something way new for both of us.It has been a nightmare. The fabric had a ripple, the desighn had a flaw in it and we did not notice it till we had cut it out and we brought it back to the store and they will only damage out the yard and a half that is damaged not the whole three and half we bought. beyond angry. We bought it to go with a vintage hat and accessories, no clue what we do now because of we shorten it it will be too short, the flaw is right on the hem.

the following are two others of the batch of 30 she found at a church consighment shop for about 3 dollars for all. they had another box they had just thrown out because no one was buying them. we are cringing at the thought at what was in that box! The patterns are believes to be from about 1929 to early 60's mostly 40's and 50's. Hollywood, Advance, Butterick, Vogue, Mc Call, Mccall's, Simplicty. I have learned a lot about patterns researching this lot.

Moon matrix I asked at a local church thrift store if they had any patterns when we first moved to our area they said they used them all as tissue paper to wrap fragile items. So sad....

DPD you just get the best patterns. Very nice.

Thanks everyone. I am so in love with this pattern and can't wait til it arrives. It is getting made right away.

moonmatrix-That Butterick pattern is lovley. The bow details and long sleeves are my favorite parts.
Lady Day- I think I get most of my pattersn from the same places most people here do.
I got this and the one below from www.bestvintagepattersn.com. Also Mainstreet Mall Online has a few vintage sellers of which Miss Helen's and Stiches and Loops are my favorites.

I will post more of my faves if no one thinks I am posting too many of them I don't want to over do it. Deadpandiva I absolutely love that suit!!! I love a patern that can be mixed and matched for more options. Do you work with the unprinted paterns also?

I actually prefer unprinted patterns. I trace all of mine anyway and I never mark the seam allowance. I find that once I've traced a pattern I have become familiar with what all the markings mean ans how it goes together. The first time I saw an unprinted pattern I was very very confused.

Threads magazine has a post on working with vintage patterns.

Love your Butterick suit, especially! How wonderful to have found all those patterns!

DPD, I love the site you got those from, too. Love the one you just posted!

Nice patterns. Can we get a better shot of those Du Barry overalls? Du Barry is my absolute favorite pattern maker, and who does not like 30s overalls!?

I've discovered the most amazing antique shop not far from where I live. I'm so pleased I found it, but I fear my bank balance is going to be in real trouble...
This afternoons haul; 4 Ladies Home Journal (each containing 4 patterns)
