Ack! This lady has some beautiful patterns, but her prices are ridiculous! I am considering making her a "best offer". Have any of you ladies ever been in a situation like this?

Yeah overpriced, but Ive seen worse. Much worse lol.
Just make an offer, if they dont take it then they dont take it.

Start the offer low, then see their counter. If their counter is only a few dollars off their original, then dont bother. Shop somewhere else.

I can't beleive no one else bid on this. It's a victory dress. I just fell in love with the novelty of it.

and I had this pattern on my favorites list for a while now.

most of these I got when my mother passed away, have a lot more and Dad found yet more patterns to share with my sister. I assume these came from my grandmother, classy lady that she was...

I'm making the one with the blue background right now, it's the one I've had to size down dramatically (I'm short, really short, and it's really too big anyway). almost done with the dress and about half done w/ the bolero...

the mail order one with the orange background I got for cheap on ebay

same with the m/o pattern in this pic

Im really getting sick of overcharging on shipping (old rant, I know). If they use an Ebay sticker for postage, Im gonna take the package to the post office to see how much *actual* shipping was, then adjust my rant accordingly :)

LD

I did just this.
THe package cost $1.90 to ship. Their 'combined shipping' was $6.90.
I wrote them asking when I was going to get my extra shipping money back
Im waiting to hear.

I just got a pattern on etsy and they refunded part of the shipping without me even asking. I guess they had no idea what the actual shipping cost would be.

I do that because Id rather over charge (especially international) and have shipping price covered than eat it. But I dont keep extra shipping money as a 'bonus'. Thats bad business practice.

I wish this was a size smaller. The long sleeve is missing but I wouldn't make the kong sleeve anyway as it already covers so much skin. it's a skirt and a top. I have no idea where I'll ever where this once I make it but I love it.

Say Cici- I love the hooded top pattern.

I am SO happy I won this. Its a trifecta of awesomeness; a Du Barry pattern (my favorite maker), from the 1930s (NRA marked), AND it has one of the most interesting yokes Ive ever seen!

Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

I should have known it was you!!! I was the one bidding against you. Are you going to reprint this or are you interested in a trade of copies?

I haven't been feeling 50s for a while but got two patterns today that I really want to make up and wear:

Views A and B remind me so much of blouses my sister and I bought as teenagers in the 70's.
A neighbor's daughter had put her trousseau together but amid a scandal fled New England for California sometime in the mid 50's. Her mother saved all those clothes
until she finally came home and had a yard sale. So many of her clothes fit my sister and me that we were set for the summer and into the fall. Mostly I remember the blouses with the pointed hems.

Oh my gosh, I'm in love. In moire taffeta with a funny veil hat it would be something right out of "The Women". Reminds me of an evening version of the dress Rosalind Russell wore to the fashion show.
