Hand Loomed by Indians. Two-tone blue wool. 51" x 3".

The Apache. Original Cravat. Feather Weight. 55% Orlon / 45% Wool. Hand loomed by Apaches? 51" x 2". The last pic shows the color.

Kay Garrett. Hand Fashioned. 51" x 1-3/4".

Polo by Ralph Lauren. 56" x 3-3/4". I got many complements on this tie when I wore it in Santa Fe one day.

The Bow Tie Club. All silk. 33" x 2-1/2". Not that old, but it was only $1.00.

Hey guys I'm not sure if this is the right section to post this but I have a question. I'm getting better at dating vintage neckties and was wondering what was the typical width and length of 1920s ties?

Here's a recent score, and only $1.50 for the whole lot!
Although mostly early to mid-60's ties, there was also a nice 50's? Hollyvogue, and a yellow "mystery tie" that I'm puzzling over.

And here's the yellow "mystery tie":
It has no tags, is approximately 44 inches long, and 2.5 inches wide at it's widest.
My best guess is 1950's, but could it be from earlier, perchance?
I'd love to hear your opinions and guesses.

Wow MN ... your lucky day! I can't help with the yellow one, but I can venture a guess that DH66 may be reproducing that Hollyvogue in some of his art.

Where do you go to find ties at such prices?! Even in thrift stores, I have never seen a tie go for less than $2-3 apiece.

I usually find the larger scores like these at yard sales and rummage sales. This particular lot was an unexpected find from an outlet thrift store, where they sell clothes by the pound. From the same locale, I have also purchased a Korean War era Ike jacket and matching trousers for a very similar price (and the original patches were in the breast pocket to boot!).

It does take a measure of patience and perseverance to be sure, though. However I do love the thrill of the hunt, and a good score makes it all the more worthwhile!

Hi guys, really nice ties all. I picked up a couple this week in charity shops, the 2nd hand market and from a vintage shop for 20p, £1 and £1.50 respectively. The burgundy one is Italian, probably early 50's and tipped with black grosgrain ribbon, the striped blue one is made of 'resiline' which I can find almost no info on at all! No doubt it was a short lived precursor to polyester?

Nice lot SD -- I like them all.

Picked up three for half-price (all under $2.00) at the DAV thrift. A couple are not too exciting, but I couldn't leave them there for the price. The last is a nice one!
