Reading this brings back memories of a massive storm that hit a giant Iowa flea market I was at one summer day years ago...

That storm had "Dorothy" written all over it! lol

Are you sure these aren't vintage? Here's a website selling them (in sterling) for $475!!

They also look a lot like the 50s scarab stuff my mom collects

Oooh - these scarab cufflinks are really neat :)

i love the wooden legs

i found it on craigslist for $150 for both. granted there is some cat scratch damage to the sides (not too visible) and, as you can see in the second pic, some of the fabric is coming loose at the seams and what not. i dont really mind because it' not immediately visible. LOL

and i'll have to find some sofa doilies...make it look a little nicer. hehe

i love it...love love love it.

Zaika ~ I love your find! My grandparents received a similar sofa and chair as a wedding present in Spring of '47. I was 13 when we had the estate sale but I remember begging my parents to keep the set for me for when I "grew up" we didn't have any room so it was sold I really regret that :( But I've included some photos for you (my father is the little boy in the pictures the year was '55) Enjoy!!!

thank you both! I am so so so happy with my new goods. Obviously bummed he is leaving, but grateful he is letting me pillage his things. I have to go back with a uhaul to pick up his couch and some 50s Canadiana chrome chairs.

Free!

My place of work was tossing this book! Crazy!

The pages are brittle but with gentle hands, it's still very functional.

What I really like are the lists of other books you can order in the back!

Quigley Brown: I love your storm photo. Please continue to post more photos!

Caroline: Where do you work? I just found a Boy Scout book in my storage and was going to post it in my book thread in the future; aren't they neat?

I am really enjoying this thread and seeing everyone's treasures. Please keep sharing ~

More free!

More free stuff!

I got these for free a little while ago, along with a big pile of jewelry that I will be fixing and donating to the Charity Shop I volunteer at. Included with the jewelry is a wonderful rhinestone belt that I need to repair and than put up for sale. I'm looking forward to donating it. :)

If anyone has broken rhinestone jewelry they want to donate, I can always use it to repair jewelry for the same shop. ;)

those compacts are so nice!

Thank you! I was very lucky to have received them! They are circa 1920-1930 compacts. I'm trying to figure out how to get that sticker off without damaging the cosmetic case. Any ideas?

try baby oil! i use that on things i cannot use "goof-off" (rather harsh cleaner) on

You can also use butter. Or most any oil based product which breaks down adhesives and removes their tackiness. Then it's just a matter of a mild detergent to remove the oiliness and you're good to go!

I've picked up a few things of late. Made my first visit to our local Antique Mall and found a shaving mug with a pink rose and gold leaf, and also a vintage brush.

My ebay find was a little better. A vintage shaving mirror.
