Well, I have a few 40s palm beach that have zany prints, but they did a good many stripes. Most of the ones I've seen (that I've bought) are very tasteful.

The shoes are the vintage Nunn Bush's I've had since 2000. Perfect size 12D. Wish they all fit like that pair.

You need some fish and zany print ties.
Nice shoes. You can't find them very often in larger sizes like that.
The whole outfit give you an air of Millionaire like Thurston Howell III.

That`s my first suit - ever!

There I still feel a bit uncomfortable and dressed up - but now it feels natural.
Since my digicam ***** here are two pics that show how the suit really looks:

- Brown sportcoat Protect 3 by Diegel with shadow lines: 220 Euro (+18 Euro adjusting the arm length)
- Brown trouser Protect 3 by Diegel with shadow lines : 100 Euro

I needed a suit for my friends wedding and I went through nearly all shops and stores in my region and the "big" city nearby (pop 163K) that may carry suits.
And after a long day I had the choice between FOUR suits thanks to my size.
One was grey and very pricey so there were only three left, all by Diegel:

Black = business
Grey/silver = boring
Brown with shadowstripes = old fashioned and different.

Luckily they were modular suits so I could combine a jacket in 110 (XL/long) with a trouser in 58 (42").
At regular suits jacket and trousers share the same size so a modular suits are way better to find something that really fits.
Finding a trouser is no problem but most jackets or suits only go to 102 some to 104, a few to 106 and only a tiny fraction are bigger.


Yesterday I bought some jeans and the saleswoman gave me some hints where to look for suits in my size.

So today I visited a surprisingly big clothes store in a hicksville with a pop of just over 7K and there they had over ten jackets and suits in my size!
And in the big 163K city I only found four.

Picked this sport coat up today on the cheap!

It's a mid 30s sport coat I'm pretty happy about... It had it's buttons when I found it, the middle one fell off and I'm yet to sew it on. The color is cream, black and green... amazing combo and tweed! It fits pretty good and will enjoy cleaning this one up a bit.

Notice the darts in the front of the coat!

A slight action peat behind the shoulders!

Now the label... the union tag is either a '36 or '39 tag... it's pretty faded.

The details on this coat point to it being mid to late 30s... no later. Has a nice high three button cut. It's not perfect, but nothing that can't be fixed! It only cost me $15 bucks so, why not right?

Just to be nitpicky, I'd say that the sleeves need to be taken in a bit more to end at your wristbones and show some shirt cuff. But the overall effect is quite nice.

Armlength at suits is an eternal religious war - and I`m glad that I found a sportsjacket where the arms were long enough (they even had to be shortened).
Longer arms may not look vintage (and you can`t easily show off your cufflinks) but it keeps the shirt sleeves tidy and in good condition.

And here`s my new one (many polyester had to die for it):

Normally I need a size of 110 for a sportsjacket and it shares the same chest measurement as size 58 - but the arms (and overall length?) are longer.

Since I picked up a Size 58 sportsjacket at a second hand store where the arms were long enough I tried it at a Size 58 suit at a C&A outlet store (they sell apparel with minor faults).

The arms and overall length suited and also the trouser (I got size 58 for trousers) and since it was just laughable 36 Euro I picked it up.

Can`t tell you the brand because they always remove the brand labels.
Of course it comes nowhere close to my expensive suit and you can tell it but for that money you can`t complain.

Now I got some more variety and it goes well with my brown wingtips, the Indy fedora and my new favorite silk tie.

Just had to buy a new white silk pochette and it`s thin like a cotton tissue so I can try some different shapes soon.

I'm sure many of you guys have been waiting.. but I got my suit back from the tailor awhile ago, but I just haven't had the time to actually come on this forum. The waist is pretty perfect, however the pant length could use some additional shortening. Thigh room became a bigger problem than I had foreseen. I didn't think crossing my legs sitting down would be that difficult! Nonetheless, here's a picture of me(on the right) with a Washington Suit from Magnoli in black with stripes.

Just an observation about sleeve length, having the shirtsleeve longer than the jacket protects the jacket cuff from the friction caused by the movement of the hand and wrist. It's easier to replace a shirt.

My newest restoration piece. Not a suit, but pretty interesting anyways. Remarkably there is no damage to any seams and only a few easily rewoven nags to the fabric. It has quite some staining and i am not sure if it has become faded or just dirty though i am hoping for the latter.

Over-did the anti wrinkle cream.

It said: "Rub cream into skin and watch the wrinkles become 'invisible!'" As you can see, the rest of me became invisible too!!
