That's one interesting jacket! I've never seen a single breasted with 2 lapel buttonholes.

One of my favourites, which I picked up in Memphis a few years back, I believe it's by Timely Clothes (can't check any of the labels, I'm afraid, my wife's retired for the evening):

1949 union tag, made of thick wool. It gives off a late '20s vibe to me, might have been bought by an old gentleman who preferred the older look.

Another eBay find. Seller had it listed as from the '50s, but when I received it I found it has the pre-1949 union tag and a nice high gorge.

Some people refer to the space between collar and lapel as gorge; others mean the point of the V created by both lapels. Depending on what you mean the gorge of this coat is low or high.

The gorge is that point where the lapels meet in the front and create a V of sort between which the necktie is visible against the background of the shirt. The coat´s design determines its positioning. While there is some flexibility in its placement on the upper chest, move it outside of this area to where it becomes a focal point and you court instant obsolescence.
There are three kind of gorges on a suit coat :-
1 - Low/ Long Gorge :- is when the lapels are cut very low towards the stomach to that more of the shirt and tie are visible.

Yep, and they look like orphaned suitcoats rather than sportcoats.

My shirtmaker calls that the 'V Zone' though I don't know of any other shirtmakers who do. He also makes suits so he knows better than to misuse the term gorge[/]. But what do you really expect from Ravis tailors...'Bespoke' custom tailoring via the internet..[huh]
