Removed my beard today.

Merkur 15C classic, open comb
Palmolive palm oil shawing soap
A sample of aloe vera cream
Two passes with the merkur and one with a normal cartridge razor
Lots of razorburn, blood and still some stubble left

I was prepered for the pain, removing an "old" beard is always painfull, my lack of experience with a safety razor didn't help - thus the last "cleanup" pass with a cartridge razor. Thank the Almighty for the sample of aloe vera cream that my GF had brought home to me.

I really need to get my hands on a Mekur HD, my current Merkur is way too light and way too agressive.

Despite of the pain I am not at all scared away from shaving with the safety razor - it is still much more fulfilling that shaving with a modern cartridge razor.

Congrats and it will get better, much of it is technique and of course the tools which work for your face. Blades are a bigger issue than many think so see if you can acquire a trial pack of blades. If nothing else try Derby because for some reason many like them.

Anther Citrus day....goin to the ex-wife's fro Turkey Day and she likes it.

I was Bad

Well the daughter used up all the hot water, I took a COLD shower. On top of that she was taking her sweet time getting ready for school. SO I had just a few minutes to make my face look better than it did. I turned to my collection and remembered a electric razor someone had given me. A goofy little battery powered gizmo that actually worked and though not a great shave got me through the day.

Tomorrow long hot shower for me....lol
