Seeking Opinions on Schott for 3sixteen Modified B-6 Bomber Shearling Jacket

Greetings Fedora Lounge members, I'm currently on the hunt for a nice shearling jacket and came across this one made by Schott for 3sixteen. It looks cool at first glance but then I notice the details and things get a little interesting. I'm not quite sure what to make of it.

For example, since it's modified, some of the the usual B6 details are missing such as smaller collar, and it has ribbed sleeve cuffs and waist instead. Could it be more wearable? Or does it make the jacket a complete frankenstein? And am I better off seeking an honest repro?

This is the forum with the most dedicated leather jacket folks so I'd love people's opinions.

cheers

What's the logic behind being "better off seeking an honest repro"? That is something I often read and it just flies over my head.

If this Frankenstein / Fashion jacket / <Model> inspired / your term of choice is made of quality materials, you like it and you can afford it, what are you missing out on? Get what you like!

That jacket is a beauty , a work of art I’d say , if you’re not looking for an “authentic replica” and you like the look - grab it - it won’t come around often

A thread update: I ended up ordering the jacket but have not received it yet. I’ll share my opinions and some pics here when I receive it!

In the end I made my decision on having something that didn’t stand out as much as an authentic B6 or B3 with the exposed shearling on the cuffs and hem. I almost went for an Eastman D1 too but I was too chicken as I felt it was still abit flashy for this gent, though someone with more confidence and swagger would have no issues wearing.

I think what it means is that for some folks, having a jacket as close to the original make (repro) is highly desirable. That’s why real mccoys and buzz rickson make a lot of $$$ since their jackets are an exact replica of the original vintage jackets.

Yes, but if for you that's not necessary, then so be it. Different strokes for different folks :) I for one would never buy a shearling without handwarmer pockets.

I don't know where you live, but you could had likely rocked it and nobody notice it. Everywhere I go I see plenty of people wearing [mostly faux] B3/B6/D1 frankensteins, it's the trend at the moment. I've only ever seen one B3 repro in the wild and I was likely the only one who noticed it.
