Recommendation high-quality T-Shirts

I'd second the Wonder Looper & Whitesville recommendations - another one I've tried that I haven't seen mentioned is Lady White Co. Starts out with a fairly crisp hand.

Edit: Also a fan of the UES No. 8 Slub Nep for something with a bit of texture / heft that still breathes quite well.
Do you have any experience with the UES waffle shirts? I am curious how the fit compared to the No. 8 slub shirts.

My current favorites are Dehen and Lady White. If I had to pick one I’d take LW. But I haven’t tried Merz yet.

And in my opinion… the more expensive shirts are worth it. If you’re just wearing it as an undershirt then whatever - uniqo, old navy, jockey. But worth having a couple nicer ones. I do know people who swear by Kirkland but we don’t have Costco here so.

IMO the least expensive, high-quality tee shirts are worth it. Not undertee where you can see *****es, actual tee shirt thick enough that you can wear in public. Whitesville is 98% there, any extra expense is just throwing money into the void without much, if any, gains in return.

If you cannot distinguish between two high quality brands, you’re overpaying. If you cannot distinguish between two high quality brands unless feeling them next to each other, you’re still overpaying.

100% agree with this

Agreed, I would include Whitesville in the “more expensive but worth it” category. $50 (for me) is still an expensive t-shirt. And when I first started trying to get more high quality clothing items, I would have considered it extremely expensive.

But we’re all chasing diminishing returns and I leave it up to each person to decide where the line is.

Buy them from JP. I bought a 2-pack of white Whitesville tees for $43 USD in 2023 (so $21.50 each). That doesn’t include shipping, but I usually add a 2-pack when I buy a leather jacket shipped from JP to save on shipping. White color is harder to come by, but other colors are always available.

Costco’s Kirkland tees would cost me $4-6 each. I forgot the exact price, but that’s the ballpark.

With the weather getting a little cooler, I’m eager to try a merino wool t shirt. Has anyone found a USA-made merino wool t shirt that stands out?

Does it have to be USA made? Icebreaker is well known for their merino wool undergarments.

Thanks! It looks like they stock these at REI, so I could buy one locally to check the fit and how it feels.

The best place to buy merino wool apparels is Sierra Trading Post, which often runs sales/discount codes. Given that they are usually undergarments, I’d get them for cheap (while there is still quality) and replace them as necessary. They get holes fairly easy, sadly.

I really enjoy RMC tees. They have a good amount of heft and a smoother feel to them.

For a trimmer fit, my go to are the IH 1600’s. Heavy weight, and cut a bit slimmer through the body and longer in the body and sleeves for us taller guys.

I do have a fair few Asket Tshirts and find them great. Bit more pricey, but not too bad, 180gsm which I find decent. Come in both longer and shorter versions.
