Recommendation high-quality T-Shirts

I swear by Barns and Tezomeya. Loopwheel fabric is incredible (organic foxfibre in the case of Tezomeya), cut is great, neither have the bulky tight collar of other japanese brands. Tezo's natural dyes are gorgeous and Barns for more standard solid colors. Have had tees from Whitesville/Strike Gold/Warehouse/SDA/Merz etc. Whitesville is a good option on a budget, but not loopwheel and I prefer the construction and cut of Barns a bit more.

Armor Lux in France makes great nautical stripe trees.

For henleys, no one comes close to Bronson's 1890 henley and Stevenson's loopwheel henleys. Not a big fan of Merz.

IMO the least expensive, high-quality tee shirts are worth it. Not undertee where you can see *****es, actual tee shirt thick enough that you can wear in public. Whitesville is 98% there, any extra expense is just throwing money into the void without much, if any, gains in return.

If you cannot distinguish between two high quality brands, you’re overpaying. If you cannot distinguish between two high quality brands unless feeling them next to each other, you’re still overpaying.

I would agree. Whitesville fit the bill for me.

Uniqlo for me is either funky fabric with a good fit or a funky fit with good fabric. I bought a bunch before learning about fabrics and Japan.

Whitesville - it’s a solid shirt, if hanes fruit of the loom undershirts were done with higher quality.

Burgus s/s pocket tee - I have a nice mint color and the construction is done well.

FreeNote Tshirt - got it on eBay, I didn’t like the fit or the color which was a very similar to my skin tone natural.

Levi’s premium pocket tee black - I can never find it on their site anymore, would loved a white color. Really held up.

I seen tried a Merz shirt in store and regret not getting it.

Merz does smoke Whitesville in terms of quality fabric and construction The Burgus shirt also beats out the Whitesville.

I'll second whoever said Velva Sheen - I have a few that are well over a decade old and I just love wearing them. I'm also a big fan of Merz B. Schwannen and have several of their tees (as well as rugby shirts, sweatchirts, and a hoodie). They do a really good job of describing the fits of their different tees if you explore their site.

Wonder looper shirts are best in class to me. I really like the collars on Warehouse shirts, though. They feel double banded or something. Neither are particularly cropped though. I think Merz has a good cropped option

If you need something that you can machine wash and dry, Uniqlo U 100% cotton t’s fit great, are heavy cotton, have a solid wide collar, and are CHEAP. Admittedly I wear these the most as on the wknds I’m typically rolling around with the kids and dog.

Hey.
These are incredible. The only t shirt that I have found which actually ages well. Super heavy so, may not suit your needs but will last a lifetime.
Perfect to wear untucked.
Expensive though

I daily wear black t-shirts. What I have found is that Haynes Beefy brand (all Cotton) often have the fabric--not the stitching--rot out in the armpits. I'll change the shirts if they become sweat-soaked, and certainly daily, but they may sit in laundry hamper for a few days until washed--probably should allow them to hang and dry beforehand.

I strongly suspect that the non-rotting stitching was done with modern synthetic thread, hence it not rotting-out. Base fabric is another story, being 100% cotton.

IMHO, the best fabric for a t-shirt is some sort of poly-cotton blend which "feels" good to the skin, allows decent moisture wicking, and is resistant to fabric rotting common with all-natural (Cotton) fabrics.

In addition, folks with long torsos ought to pay attention to t-shirts which are offered in longer lengths.

I've been experimenting with Duluth t-shirts recently, but insufficient time to see if they will rot. I definitely bought them on SALE.

Something to consider: Black is Black, White is White and loads of shades of other colors in between.

I can use Black or White iron-on patches, applied internally, to mend small holes in similar color garments. Other colors, not so easy to match. Best to apply as soon as hole is noticed to prevent hole from expanding. Apply alcohol to washed garment/area to be patched and allow to dry-- this helps with patch adhesion. Use highest temp suggested to iron-in the patch. Yeah, call me cheap. OTOH, " A Penney Saved is a Penney Earned".

It's something I think Barns does really well on their loopwheel tees. A substantial, normal looking collar that doesn't stretch out but doesn't look like a micro turtleneck.

Not to mention how great the cut and fabric feel. I usually run them through the dryer on medium heat once to knock a few cm off the body length (virtually no width shrinkage) and they're perfect. It's like a better version of the Warehouse cut.
