I've been hesitating for a while and finally pulled the trigger on a good loop-wheel sweatshirt . I remember the feel of them from my childhood in the '60s when sweats were thick, bulky, and super soft inside. Since then I've owned a few Champions and other white label ones that I bought branded from a local bar, or that were supplied by employers. They were all okay to wear, but ddn't feel particularly well made or comfortable, and they wore very poorly, fraying at the collars and cuffs and never getting all that soft. Same as cheap T-shirts, they got the job done and were more or less disposable.
The UES I got is the newer Puca Purcara model, they have a lot of info about them on their website. All I can say is that this, and I imagine by extension most of the other high end loop-wheel sweats, are in another league entirely. It's thicker, warmer, softer, cosier, and much better fitting by a huge margin, really feels luxurious, and drapes better by far than the modern run of the mill variety. Whether the prices are worth it for you is a different question. Now that I've compared I can say it's a no brainer, and I expect it to well outlast my other sweats while looking and feeling better in the process.
My only advice is to heed carefully the posted measurements, they are slim fitting but so well cut they still afford a lot of movement while fitting fairly closely. I usually wear an American Medium, a European large, or a 16 ½ in shirts, and the UES #4 fits perfectly. The sleeves are longish but are made to look and feel equally good with the cuff folded over, it's fairly long but snugly hemmed, so height and arm length shouldn't be an issue of it fits on the chest and shoulders.
Now I'm more than ever interested in trying a flannel from them, the prices on all the UES stuff when ordered direct from their online shop are really low and make them a great value in the high quality Heritage space.
