Recommendation high-quality T-Shirts

Hi folks

I would be happy if someone could give me a recommendation for (high-) quality T-Shirts they are not 'slim fit' and not too long. I want to wear them open / untucked (overt the pants) together with Jeans and Leather Jackets.
Monochrome colors like white, gray, black without print.

Background to my question: 20 years ago, I was able to buy high-quality i.e. Levi's T-Shirts that lasted 10 years or more and still looked good after countless washes. They did not deform or lose size, and the fabric looked great for years.
Today I can no longer find this quality.

Whitesville (made by Sugar Cane) and Mister Freedom B-Stock Stanley tees are relatively short. My multiple-washed whitesville tee in Large measures 22" length. MF B-Stock Stanley in Medium (new) is listed with 24" length.

Its my opinion that high end high shirts and specifically T-shirts are a waste of money 99% of the time.. ive had a bunch from a lot of the well known brands and can say that a random shirt from Target, Uniqlo or just a plain white T is just as good and often more wearable than stuff for $100

that said I heard some good things about Wonder Looper recently..

I'd second the Wonder Looper & Whitesville recommendations - another one I've tried that I haven't seen mentioned is Lady White Co. Starts out with a fairly crisp hand.

Edit: Also a fan of the UES No. 8 Slub Nep for something with a bit of texture / heft that still breathes quite well.

I ordered three different Tees from Bronson MFG about a year ago. It took about a week to get them to Switzerland. The quality of the fabric is very convincing and the color has still not washed out even after many washes. This one is my favorite.

I just picked up the J. Press x Buck Mason Toughneck and it's fantastic. It's also cut shorter. I have also heard fantastic things about Asket but not have had a chance to try out personally.

20 years ago, before people ordered online, brick and mortar stores stocked quality goods. And we bought from the store.

I bought T-shirts and turtlenecks from Sears, The Gap, Eddie Bauer, and Nordstroms. Nordstroms had their own brand. The basic t-shirts, pocket tees, mock necks, and turtlenecks were the thickest and most expensive for a cotton shirt. Sears was decent, but it was a polyester blend. The Gap & Eddie Bauer had very good quality cotton.

Hanes and Gildan offer 6 oz cotton shirts. Duluth Trading offers a 7.4 oz shirt.

Lands End and LL Bean still sell decent quality.

As a kid, I was poor. My family was poor. Actually, we're still poor.

I grew up wearing the basic, white underwear shirts that come in a multipack.

As I began earning my own money, I spent it on nicer things. Things that my folks didn't buy for me. I bought more expensive, nicer clothes.


In today's world, I've turned a complete 360. I'm back to buying those less expensive T-shirts in multipacks. I don't cry as much when I get stains. Grease, motor oil, BBQ sauce, blood....... better to buy cheap shirts. I'll buy whatever is on sale, and has a coupon.

I’ve recently gone down the rabbit hole. Had a buddy who was visiting Osaka, and I was able to score a pack of Whitesville and a few others. I’m lucky to be able to expense both black and white tees so works out perfect in case some I end up not being happy with. I’m looking for perfect silhouette, sleeve length, and shorter body length. I’m more of a 1940’s / 50’s style, sleeves cuffed and untucked just at belt line. Some of the shirts will shrink to fit, some will require hemming. Here’s what I found so far…
