Alan, your new hats are special. That 1920's homburg is beautiful. I love the color and the hat looks as if they designed the homburg just for you. The Cross Country and boater are both spectacular hats also. I don't know how to compliment them without sounding redundant.

Agreed. Well done. That homburg still takes the cake, for me! However, Alan, you are one of the only living people I think I've ever seen that looks really good in a boater. Can't wait to see that one on.

Thanks to a tip from hatophile, I got my tan homburg today. Breaking it in a bit this afternoon.

(don't worry, I"m not leaving this one open crowned. I've already spent a few minutes shaping it. So far I prefer this arrowhead with long dents I creased the front slightly lower than the back for some reason:

This is my Fedora Fest IV hat. It is the work of 2 master hatters. The bow was made by Mr. Art Fawcett and the hat was made by Major Mike Moore. A crossbreed. 100% beaver, 2-5/8" brim, center dent, the color is camel and the open crown height is about 6".

Thunderball, super fine looking fedora there, what a gorgeous bow and way cool liner! Mssrs. Fawcett and Moore are true artists.

Here is my latest restoration project:
1950's(?) Royal Stetson fedora, crown 5 1/2" open, 2" bound brim, 1 5/8" grosgrain ribbon. Arrived with tons of character, crumpled and caked with dust but no moth bites. Hatband heavily stained through and liner top coated over with residue. Thorough brushing and handwashing liner in detergent did wonders. Felt is soft, supple, very velvety finish in rich dark brown, took to a nice teardrop with a quick pinch. Before:

After:

Cheers! KC

Unknown brand panama, this hat came squashed into a very small box and I thought I might not be able to salvage it, but after some ironing and steam working out the bash and a new pug here is finished result. Straw is not that fine of weave all over even though it starts off really fine at crown it ends at brim with a nice back weave .this is my favorite type of hat to wear more so than felts.

Thanks Chepstow,

This hat is nicer than I was expecting. It was listed as having a 2" brim and it's actually a 2 1/8" which is nice. It also has this very cool dove colored felt which is a mid grey with a violet undertone. It's hard to see in the photos but it's really cool in person.

Hey, Sam, that is a fine looking hat. Very sharp, I think you made a good investment.

Thunderball, that hat is just terrific, a wonderful combo effort from two great hatters.

I just won these two. The Homburg, I kinda plan on converting to a fedora just to try and do it, and the Cervo, well, I just threw in a lower bid with an hour and a half remaining. I never expected to win it and was surprised it didn't go for more. But I'm not complaining.
