I have a heck of a time measuring crowns

Use an adjustable T-Square. It doesn’t have to be draftsman quality or a 48” drywall T-Square. You can buy 12” clear plastic T-Squares pretty cheap at office supply stores.

Yesterday we got our first measurable rain in two months. We have pastures that are already turning brown. All the ranchers are planning on supplemental feeding and some are having to haul in water too! My rain hats didn’t get much use this year/decade.

No, haven't moved, but I've had the hats since the last few times we've had some actual rainfall here, so... We were supposed to get some rain overnight last night but, of course, it never materialized. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Lichtenstein’s “South Texan” Open Road clone. 5 5/8” open crown and 2 3/4” brim.

It’s a tight 7 5/8 so I think it will be moving on. Bummer.

My milliner has finished my latest hat, the felt that she used was made from beaver fur, whether it's actually silverbelly I know not. Why should I worry? I just love the hat, the lady is indeed a talent.

This was a curiosity purchase as much as anything. Stetson The Imperial with the “Ultimate Finish.” Turns out the finish is just a nice but unexceptional suede/antelope: nice hand, but the felt to too thick and the crown has too much taper. The build quality is what you would expect from Stetson of this era. 2 5/8” raw edge brim and 5 5/8” (ish) open crown.

That's true, it's about an hour's drive but compared to Esther, who made three hats for me, Belgium isn't exactly an hour's drive.
