They should be reported to the hat police. Hope, like Lazarus, it can be resurrected. My recent eBay victory by way of Goodwill arrived today. Goodwill...bad pack job:

Somewhere in there there is a Borsalino lobbia/homburg. Looks like this funeral hat will need the Lazarus treatment.
Excellent news, Max. So pleased for you and your family. Now, if that kind of good news doesn't deserve celebrating with buying a new hat, I don't know what does [emoji6]Funny you should say that. I was just told my biopsies were negative for cancer. [emoji2]

Looking forward to seeing it after it's been through some good old fashioned tlc [emoji4]The "before" photos in the listing depicted a nicely formed hat, so it should be an open and shut case. That being said, when I received the tracking information and saw the dimensions of the package I started to have doubts. I can't say I was surprised to find it arrive in the condition I did. I think the lowered expectations combined with being at this for several months now has allowed me to just roll with the punches. I have little doubt this'll bounce back nicely after a little steam, a brush, and some shaping.
Thank you, Bill! I intend to enjoy the rest of my life more, now.So glad to hear the good news Max.
Very nice indeed, Max.Stetson Railbird, my second. The other one is gray.
Notice the triple stitching on the brim.

I survived 2 surgeries/biopsies for malignant melanoma. The first one came back positive. No more long hours in the sun for this young, cough- cough, man.Thank you, Bill! I intend to enjoy the rest of my life more, now.

It is a horrible experience, isn't it, Douglas?I survived 2 surgeries/biopsies for malignant melanoma. The first one came back positive. No more long hours in the sun for this young, cough- cough, man.
I worried a lot, too... like, how much and how deep are they going to have to keep cutting on this????
Steve, Again great to see this one! It's definitely made of Wool but hard to describe. I am not sure any of these Karl Misik (Kami) will appear again especially NOS. They have a great look and I really enjoy mine. This WWII era Karl Misik (Kami) arrived today. I bought it off Alan, who originally got it via Steve's Czech haul back in 2015.
It has a very soft, grey heather felt which, by the feel of it, suggests some wool content.
It fits very nicely.
Steve has more info about Kami on his germanaustrianhats site.
I'm not as good a photographer as Alan, who is, but I hope I've done the hat justice.
Thanks as well to Alan for the Borsalino coffin box.

Second hat arrived today, and first, night and day difference in packing:

The hat was properly packed in a hat box and taped shut, then surrounded by moulded styrofoam (like new electronics), and placed inside this massive shipping box. Additional gaps were filled with loose stuffing. Hands down the best treatment I've ever seen, so kudos to the seller.
And now, for the hat:

Clocking in at a 4" brim it just meets @Joao Encarnado's minimum requirements, but it's easily the biggest in my humble collection. Stands 5" tall in the front at the base of the center crease, and sports a two-ply black ribbon. Haven't made my mind up on the feather but I'm actually leaning towards keeping it right now.
And now for moment of truth:

Brim is a little wonky and will need a bit of reshaping, but all in all I like it. Part 2 regarding the story associated with it to follow below.
That is beautiful, and the 4" brim will provide some shade! It fits you well.Second hat arrived today, and first, night and day difference in packing:
