I posted one of these before. I think that was a later example. This is the third time that a hat that was advertised as black turned out to be blue. In this case Mirtillo. Borsalino Gran Lusso Club in blue. Longhair finish, size 57 with the overwelt brim at 5cm and the crown at 10cm at the pinch.

Apparently these are rare. Well, in my discovery journey of American hats, I found this one. Caxton ten in the colour "chalk". A very light grey in fact. Don't know what the lot "Nelson" refers to. Size 56 (American 7). Bound brim at 7,5cm and crown at 11cm at the pinch. Thanks to Mike @Redfokker it came with its proper box too. Shapes like a dream with no steam or effort and the hand of the felt is excellent.

Despite my best intentions I added a few hats to the collection. Some are not keepers because they're not my size. Still well worth looking at though.
First one. Burton homburg in grey, size 57. Brim at 5cm and crown 11cm at the pinch. There is another brand called Burton: a Dutch maker of top hats. I believe this Burton is the name of a retail store on Fifth Avenue. Once owned by someone called Dr Z: how cool is that?!

That is so nice, Stefan. Cool previous owner, too. A rapper perhaps [emoji4]

Mike @Redfokker was kind enough to take these shots of it in full sunlight. The ribbon looks black in the previous post, but shows it's in fact dark blue below.

Haven't got a clue how to date this one.
Some really great finds, Stefan. Congrats. I particularly like the Burton homburg and the Caxton from Red. $10! Those were the days [emoji4]

Thanks, Steve. You sure could get a lot of hat for $10 back then! It's great quality.

It will be so worth the effort.

Thanks Steve. Seems like all my hats require effort, but that is cheap.

Looks good. The sweat equity will pay off.

Thanks Brent. I like a good payoff (and I sweat easily).

Bob what's the felt like?

Dirty and stiff right now Jack. The hand feels about a soft as my Half-Breed's brim. Could be beavery.

Nice find, Bob. The brushing and steaming is the fun part.

Thanks Stefan. Quite a haul you've had. Love the Caxton!

Wegener "Super", 60cm possibly late 1950s early 1960s. This is a really nice later Homburg that is in great condition. R. & M. Wegener made great Homburgs and their dressing department was one of the finest.

I have an interesting + old Stiff Felt from Henrich Klipper Offenbach a. M. that you can see more about here.

Great hat, Steve. If it was one size bigger I’d be contemplating a bit of larceny.

I took a gamble on a mystery hat that had its liner and sweat replaced. On top of that, the seller posted poor photos and had no idea what the hat was. What I bought:

What I received:

And the original sweat was included in the box:

The two cord ribbon was also included loose in the box. My only disappointment is that it was sold to me as a 7 5/8 when it is clearly a 7 1/2.

Dr. Z must have had some style. Of course the Dr. Z I know is the CEO of Mercedes Benz Damlier, he would wear something like this.

Another new one. A brand we don't see very often. Vanzina homburg in nero. Qualitá extra, size 58, with the brim at 5,5cm and the crown at 11cm at the pinch. Very nice hand, but it wouldn't surprise me if it has some wool content.

I remember reading post about the history of Vanzina (by Daniele?) This one is very nice.

Mirtillo is one of my favorite Borsalino colors. The finish on this one is so nice.
