I'm still tempted by one of the aluminium-sided Swiss Army knives, the one with just the bottle opener and a single blade, for EDC. Bit more modern than I normally go, but everything I'd use. On a school trip to Switzerland in 1992 I bought a Huntsman. till a nice souvenir to have, but discovered very quickly that I have little use for the vast majority of its blades and functions. For a multi-function knife, my old West German mil-surplus Wenger does it all. Most of the time, though, almost any job I would reach for a knife for just requires one, decent blade.

I think the Pioneer sounds like something you would like. It is very like the Official Boy Scout pocket knife, or at least the one I had many decades ago. I bet it is 99% match for ordinary daily needs. Maybe you've looked at it.

That's a good call; I think that's the one they issued to the Swiss Army prior to 2008? Agreed, a good range of features in there wuthout it being ott for regular carry.

I’ve decided to stop carrying my broad arrow 1968 Australian navy stainless knife around as it’s a bit too collectible to use for opening amazon boxes and potentially losing.

I looked for left handed side opening autos, but there’s nothing in the sub $100 range. So I may get a front opening auto with a good clip that I can put in my boot.

Nice little combo you have there.
thanks.
I haven't actually carried a standard Buck 110 much in quite awhile.
this NOS 2012 example was a recent eBay purchase bought to replace my original 2012 110 that I received for graduating highschool.
I've wanted to retire it since I kinda messed up the blade some years back.

the Boker Barlow was my first re-cover which I did earlier this year, and it went almost perfectly except for the drill bit walking just a little on the mark side bolster.
