Milled/pebbled cowhide with the top coat removed . Slightly sanded but the grain is in tact

1.2mm gold/cognac cow vs 1.2mm black steerhide (five star)

Overall less stretchy and tighter than five star.

If my cossack in the more naturally finished hide turns out good then I will make a gold/cognac halfbelt next if they have it in 1.6mm

The more naturally finished hide is similar in temper and feel to vansons horsehide and looks very similar too. If you add a shiny top coat then it looks more like the shiny stuff from Japan .

Unfortunately I missed round 1, so if i may ask..are you designing a jacket to have made IN Pakistan? Or...you ARE in Pakistan, and making a jacket?

The grain you developed in that sample is just beautiful!

Round 1 was someone's discovery of five star leather which seems to have put Pakistan on to the map .

Round 2 is a different factory I have been working with that may or may not make a better leather jacket in the end .

I am a German ordering something in Pakistan

The context behind this also misses me - Are you having a leather jacket made in Pakistan? Are you making a leather jacket?

It is a jacket being made for me in Pakistan.
I think I could make one myself but I don't have the time for it

Thank you for the clarification! I do hope the different factory makes you a jacket you love.
I have a couple pair of leather pants, and a loose copy of an RAF Irvin jacket, of Pakistani craftsmanship...and I've been very happy with them.

How do you mean exactly? It's always (going back to ancient times) been an area for leather work and fabric weaving.

Even as outsourcing goes it's been a common place for things made of either. Even in WWII, the US got its goat hides for jackets from British India.

Incidentally, speaking of PK factories, the greatcoats in Dunkirk were made by a vendor there IIRC. @Edward that could be an interesting avenue to explore. They do weave some great wool there (probably not inaccurate in some sense to things that would have been around in the days of the Raj) and Nolan doesn't seem to be someone who'd use polyblend substitutes as some period programming has done.

I suspect this is a literal translation from German into English, rather than an analogous one.
There's "xxx brachte das auf den Plan".
The German word "Plan" can be translated with Map. like Stadtplan = city map

But what it actually means is that xxx made me realise that 5* was a producer and I included that in my plans"

Deepl translates this as "xxx brought this onto the scene" or "xxx brought this up" or "xxx brought this to the plan"

It's the same expression in English. :) I think Denny was just joking with his response.

My point was just that PK was pretty well known as a producer for leather goods already, going back to the 1940s original American jackets which used goat skins from British India.

I should invest my money into funding schools in developing countries.

Or I should burn it and warm my hands with it I don't know lol
