Yup. 'The Killing Kind' has him as a Hackney enforcer with confusions. He's been in quite a number of good things, and yes, he gets 'evil Eastern gangster' roles a lot.

@zebedee I think you are spot on there. The posture, attitude, weight, and rest of the clothing matter more than the age. If you are in decent enough shape and hold yourself/walk confidently, then it just looks better.

No actually made in Tijuana. There are some amazing custom shops in TJ. I would be more than happy to recommend some to people.

I did go to Leon last June for a 3 day shopping binge. I found some really nice things but I had to dig deep to find it. Lots of Chinese junk and fake leather these days. The first time I went in 2005 it was much better. Still worth a day or two though.

I think that you should wear whatever you like unless you're going to get fired for it. Don't worry too much about what other people might be thinking in any context apart from work unless they're about to give you a kicking.

Most people think about themselves a lot of the time and put themselves at what they perceive is the centre of others' thought patterns- this is usually a mistake, although we all do it. I tried to stop wearing leather jackets into work when a couple of colleagues commented on it negatively, but then when a few of them said that they really liked the jackets, I started wearing them to work occasionally (but we generally weren't required to abide by a particular dress code). If I have to wear formal clothing, I'm probably avoiding leather jackets - it'd be a bit like wearing a wool watch cap with a suit - just doesn't go together, but I reckon that a half belt, chinos and a decent shirt are ok in most settings. I'll definitely wear a leather jacket to the pub and almost anywhere outside work.

I think it's more often about weight and posture than age when it comes to clothing, really, and probably the right haircut helps, too - I walked around with a grade 1 all over from about 18 to 40 before realising a couple of years ago that it might not have suited me and grew it a bit. Losing a couple of inches of the waist, putting shoulders back and cheerful confidence (or a seething, pugnacious demeanour that no-one can quite prove) lets you wear what you like out of office hours.

sometime family plays a big role here, if the entire of your family members wear extremely casual clothes so you stand out too much everytime you go out with them, or often comment or make fun of your jacket (or jeans or boots) wearing habit then it might erode your style too because they are not other people.

I once read something along the lines that it's not possible to overdress, just that everyone around is under-dressed, especially the ones that take jabs at your style.

I agree with the rest of the post but just wanted to ask, in what manner would they negatively comment on your jackets??? While I didn't get that many compliments on my jackets, I never had anyone say anything bad about them so it's hard for me to imagine what's there to dislike enough to say it.

yeah but living in the tropics, a lot of time people going out in sandals, t-shirt shorts and sandals to supermarket, to restaurant.
sometime my mom's family invite me to come along for dinner, and everyone is in t-shirt and jeans and somekind of those slipon sock-sneakers or sandals, the women wear casual dress and sandals, and I'm with leather jacket, and thick jeans, and boots... kinda feel awkward with myself in such situation, so I mostly decline. I couldn't care less about strangers, but if its your own family or relatives it feels weird.

I've worked with some people who were fairly direct, and of the stated view that leather jackets were for young women and that anybody else looked like a fool wearing one.

The boots are made from really nice leather but IMO the build quality is suspect. They run you around $100/200.

There are also huge plazas dedicated to shoes like "Musla" which offers assorted styles of shoes for around $40/60.

There are very good deals still and worth a long weekend trip. I paid $200 for a RT ticket from Tijuana. A no brainer for me. The Holiday Inn is literally across the street from the leather area.

Anyone who really thinks it's not possible to overdress has never been to a job interview or held down a real job. It's the kind of flippant insight you'd get from someone justifying a narcissistic personal style. It's one of those almost funny lines, but not as good as Vivian Westwood's, 'When in doubt, overdress.'
