While I agree that this guy is not doing himself any favors in business, let's stop using the word "right" incorrectly. The fact is, this guy does have a right to tell you to "f off" if he doesn't want to deal with you. And you have a corresponding right to get mad and decided to bad mouth him to others.

Additionally, you have no right to expect to be treated like a prince by everyone you meet.

Yes, the guy seems like a jerk. Yes it will likely hurt his business some. But he still has a right to be a jerk.

It's all not very good business practice and the guy will probably die of a heart attack sooner than later with all the hate seemingly balled up inside, agreed. Yes, it is also bad social skills and if everyone acted like him society would be worse off.

But "rights" have nothing to do with it all.

Well ... I know little about American law, but in other countries a shop is not allowed to discriminate between customers. Outside the US, "rights" could be an issue here.

Firstly, the original poster said he is in Wisconsin. That sort of makes it America. Secondly, I don't see any "discrimination." I see a guy acting like a jerk pretty much to everyone. No discrimination there. He's a jerk pretty much equally to everyone, it seems. LOL

Agreed Dane . Words and rights are more serious sometimes than we assume. In Europe certain words or insulting someone is considered a hate crime and is punishable by law.

Well, it seems like the owner of the shop somehow manage to survive. Maybe he can do that without customers, but not very likely [huh]

In any case, this is not a courtroom - and not especially suitable for any legal considerations/rulings. We only have hearsay and a single sided explanation to judge from.

Point is this happened to me and I am sure could have happened to anyone else here who may have happen to call the guy up and ask some pertinent qs. Fact is is was a rude ass and seems to have no ethical character . I mean really who emails a potential customer or otherwise and drops the F bomb repeatedly ???
There's no making excuses for this guys piss poor handling of a simple phone call and email.
He shouldn't be in business and he should know better to respect anyone who may come into his business to possibly spend money .
I've not had any bad experience with any other hat shop owner or seller that's involved with the lounge so that's pretty refreshing actually.
Just wanted to share my experience for what it is worth to others who are thinking if possibly dealing with this idiot at the monte cristi hat shop in sant fe.

Bond, I fully understand your frustrations, as you explain them. I just seek a little more nuances. I do that in hat colors ... and in life in general. Not specifically in your posts, but in most of our posts on this issue. Unfortunately, I'm just an uncertain, average sinner - not a role model on the subject

I had been watching this for some time. Beautiful hat, beautiful lining (no, it doesn't have the "printed compass" Ole!, lol). I can't wait until it arrives because I would like to know if this was sold from a millinery shop in a hotel, as the lining says "The Denver".
