Hello!

Been reading the forum for a long time thought I'd post my latest Schott Perfecto.

It's a 613 in size 42.

The journey started some years ago with a 519 large that proved to be a little too snug (I do ride as well) then went to the 519 extra large.

Next I made my way to a 613s in size 46 which was totally awesome until it broke in well enough to feel a bit big. (I'm 6 ft tall about 175 lb, about a 36 inch waist and these days maybe a 44 chest).

Next up was a 118 in size 44 which was so beautiful but I could tell after wearing a few times it was just going to be too large.

So I replaced that with a 118 size 42 and I added a cream-colored faux collar from Schott.
That jacket is awesome for riding even when it's cold plus paired with crazy pants (the latest were white with black vertical stripes and idea I got from lead singer of Foxy Shazam) it becomes quite a cool party hit.

Next I replaced my 613s size 46 with a size 44 which is also now part of my permanent stable.

As it broke in I wished it were just slightly more snug.
I was tempted to get the 613sh as I've read here on the forum that the leather is a bit thicker and could make up for that little extra snugness from the regular 613s.

Instead though I decided to take a chance and go for the regular 613 in a size 42 which is what you see here.

Upon opening the box it was folded in a weird kind of way and the right zipper was not even pulled down.

After the initial shock that the the leather where the right sleeve joins the body seemed a little pronounced and weirdly wrinkled, I just started chillin and over a small martini and cigar decided to put my body in the thing and retrain it from the box or whoever tried it on before and to just wear the s*** out of this thing LOL and make it part of my life like everything else LOL.

Anyway enjoy and nice to meet y'all!

I love my 613! Though it broke in, I think it’s a bit snug. I just got a Grais horsehide motorcycle jacket and it fits perfectly! I don’t like the pockets on my 613 and the Grais fixes that by having the pockets closer together.

Oh yes I have not even attempted to make use of them yet on the 613 LOL!

This is definitely my most snug perfecto.

Even my 613s in 44 was significantly easier to reach into the pockets then this 613 42.

I think of all my Schotts my 519 extra large is by far the most comfortable with the pebbled cowhide.

It just melts around my body. I'll put a pic down of what I mean.

The good news is I took a nice long ride with my new 613 today and it's probably my best riding jacket yet!

The snugness kept me nice and warm and aerodynamic while the footballs on the arms gave me full reach to the handlebars. A great ride and a great jacket!!

Here's the 519 I mentioned above.
Cheers!!

The 613 is certainly snug, but the elaborate arm movement features (including the sometimes derided underarm footballs) make this jacket very easy to wear and not constraining at all. Same thing with the 641 (or the 184 if you wear it one size down as I do). A second skin indeed ! If i wear a concurrent pattern with the same measurements (let's say Aero Leather Boardracer), it is mostly unconfortable and I have to go one size up. As far as practicality and ease of movement, all this classic 618, 118, 613, 141, 641... are really up there, even worn very tight. I Own a 613 38 (with footballs) and a 613SH 38 (no footballs) too, and i must say the 613 is tighter, but a little more comfortable too. With the 613SH, i can sometimes feel blood circulation being a little blocked under the armes, as if the armholes were a little too high for my body type. Wich never happens with the 613.

Very very interesting.

Yes in fact the reason I had taken a chance to downsize from my 6:13s model size 44 (which I had already replaced my previous model 613 s size 46 with) down to a regular 613 size 42 was because of the underarm footballs.

I had reasoned that it would be tighter in the places I wanted it to be (chest, back, abdomen) but would have as good or better range of motion for riding etc

I also heard and read about the 613 having ever so slightly wider shoulders than to 613s, the latter having a similar shoulder span as the 519 being a quote slimmed down version of the classic biker jackets, meaning the 613/618.

It worked out very nicely as the 613 in size 42 fits as well as my 613s in size 44 but just a bit more snug and range of motion is the same in the arms. I would think though that if I tried the 6:13s in 42 I would have the same blood pulsing under the armpits problem you may be experiencing though I am tempted to get the 613sh in size 44 thinking maybe the thicker house leather (3.5 mm versus 3 mm??) may actually provide a little extra snugness from my size 44 613s.

As a side note on those cafe racers though they are not my style I did buy my 22-year-old son a 530 on his request

(He's not allowed to ride until he's either 50 years old or I'm dead lol)

Anyway thanks everybody for providing a place to talk about this craziness that not many people obsess and analyze to this unhealthy degree as we do lol

A couple of typos above that should say horse leather not house leather and 613s not 6: 13s

Looks like a great fit! Welcome.

Nothing quite like the idiosyncrasies of getting a Schott fit just right. Indeed the 613sh and 618hh fit a half or full size more snug in my experience, not sure if it's due to the leather being thicker or horse having less give, or what.

I am also not quite sure who the pockets on perfecto's are for....they're just so far back that it always feels like I need two hands to get my sleeve/arm appropriately into position, whereas a smaller Vanson cross-zip I have the pockets look like they're in the same location but can be used easily like any other jacket.

That's so interesting. I also recall hearing or reading that the horse side used in the 613sh is even thicker than that used for the 618hh?? Which makes the puzzle adventure even more fun, except maybe for the bank account LOL

I don’t know how many Perfectos I’ve had come and go…at least 25 and I’ve loved every one of them. I’ve had great fits in sizes 42, 44 and 46 and some almost comical misses in those same three sizes. There are sizing tendencies from different eras, model specific cuts and features and of course the bigger than tagged sized on the jackets starting with a 1. Despite all this, you never quite know how the thing is going to fit while you’re taking it out of the box. I think it’s part of the charm of it. Even when you absolutely nail it, for some reason, the quest for Perfecto perfection goes on. Enjoy your new 613!

Hmm I haven't heard that nor encountered it in the store recently but maybe there was a time recently where that was the case?

I have a 618HH from the 90s (I think 96?) that is a really great, really substantial leather with some beautiful grain to it. I think it's maybe a touch heftier than the current HH, and far less vinyl-looking.

Again, with all things Schott, things change ever so slightly so frequently without any announcement that it's a bit of a goose chase for finding specific qualities in a given model.

See this is where I find Schott measurements confusing. Im seeing guys 6ft plus ,weighing 200plus lbs wearing size 42s in the 618/613..The 46 613 i bought is super comfortable wearing a sweatshirt and good wearing a tee-shirt.im 5ft 9,,,and 185lbs.admiteditly I've always worked out so im not a skinny dude.i don't think I could fit into a 42 .Only thing I see different in this jacket is the back length 23.5in.Could this be an older jacket that had been unworn. Either way i love it,didn't think I would gel with the back length but I love it.

Thought I´d chime in, as I have just bought the 618HH last week.

613SH and 618HH use the same hide (with the same finishing and weight). @Aloysius was able to inform that older models 618HH used a different and thinner hide.

Yes I was glad to read that in your comparison and finally confirmed that it was not my imagination that this used to be the case!

Yes it's been such an interesting ride with Schott sizing in the same models over the years.
Admittedly my body size has changed I can still remember the excitement of my first 613s in a 46. Being 6-ft tall myself but at the time I weighed probably around 212 pounds and my chest was around a 46 with probably around a 40 waist .
Then over the past decade or so I stopped working out in a gym and just did my calisthenics and also dropped the amount of food I ate including carbohydrates.
So I then I eventually purchased the same model, the 613s, in a 44 which was great for a while.
Nowadays I maintain at about 175 sometimes a little less rarely a little more. About a 36-in waist sometimes a little less again rarely a little more.
Most recently my chest measurement was around 41 1/2 in. if I recall.
I'll never forget the surprise the first time I fit into a size 42 perfecto and now I've got three models in that size.
I still have the 613s in a 44 and I would say it fits just a little looser than my regular 613 in a 42 but I would attribute the extreme comfort of the 613 in the 42 to the underarm footballs.
And in the 118 size 42 I would attribute it to the slightly more generous cut of that model.
Have not tried buying a 613s or sh in a 42 yet but my sense is it may be a bit snug but I'd have to try one.

Another note, the black horsehide they used on other jackets (and I imagine still do on the cafe racers) is the same horsehide as the 613SH (and now 618HH), just lighter weight. It still develops that really beautiful grain.

The one issue I've noticed with my 613,and it ****** annoys me,is that when putting the jacket on,the sleeve lining will come 1/4in out at the wrist and I have to push it back. Its worse on the left sleeve. Just seems like there's too much material. Anyone else had this ?

So interesting. The only time I noticed that was on jackets where the leather had shrunk and the lining now protruded out the bottom of sleeves and even at the waist which was always frustrating
Come to think of it there was I think a 618 I had gotten on eBay years ago where I think the person had shrunk the leather on purpose and I remember I couldn't believe how far the polyester lining protruded and that it was not mentioned in the listing.
