Hey guys, I've lurked here for many years but have only signed up recently. I'd like to share and get some input on this jacket. I bought it used a few months ago and have quickly fallen in love with it. The quality and weight of the leather, the patina, the look of it, and the fact that it appears to be from the 80s/90s are all just awesome. This jacket makes anyone who wears it look like a bad*ss. I can only imagine it used to be someone's high school bully's jacket back in the day. It has definitely lived a life but unlike some older jackets I've seen, it doesn't show any terrible wear or damage, just raw character in the nice patina caused by what I would guess is rubbing in different areas.
Now here is the reason for my post. I love this jacket but it is ever so slightly tight on me. It is a 38. I notice the tightness most in the arm circumference, the chest and slightly in the shoulders. Without the lining it is wearable with a t-shirt but the collar does pull on my neck slightly. With the liner in, it is tighter than I'd like. I think this same jacket in size 40 would fit me perfectly. What I would like is for someone to confirm for me exactly which model of Schott this is so I can find one online.
I believe this is a Schott 643 from everything I can find. It is steerhide, the shape looks right, the back length is about 65cm which is right. Unfortunately there is no model tag anywhere on the jacket. The one that is usually in the chest or hand pocket is missing. The problem with it being a 643 is that all of the Schott 643 I see online have nickel-coloured zippers. Mine has bronze. Did Schott make this jacket with bronze zippers at some time in the past? I'm considering buying a 641 in size 40 as if it is a 643, finding one in size 40 is seemingly impossible.
