I second your observation, Gal. Dad was a huge Bond fan, and we watched each and every movie each and every time they were on. Even now, when I went to see Casino Royale, my dad was watching with me, and we made the occasional comment during the film. Dad passed in 2000, but I could hear his voice in my ear. A girl's dad is her FIRST hero, but maybe Bond is second.

*snicker* OK, that's a horrible pun in the title line, sorry. I couldn't resist.

Isn't it neat to have had that bond? (whoops, I did it, too!)

My Dad and I have been to a few Bond flicks together - my two brothers and my mom were never fans, so it has been something special for just father and daughter to enjoy.

One of my biggest criticisms was the sound mixing and the theater that I saw it in the sound was terrible. I believe Deckard said the same thing; that Craig appeared to be mumbling and you couldn't make out a word the fellow said. Well, they either fixed it on DVD or it has a better mix. Hearing what he says has a big effect on the film.

Well, and the DVD has the option of subtitles, an option I ended up using.

I came into this world a Bond Fan. I've seen every Bond movie a minumum of 5 times. After '68, the year I was born, it became a ritual for my dad and I to see them on opening night. I saw my first Bond movie in '69 at a year and a half old. Needless to say I don't remember that, but it was the start of a tradition that I have carried on with my kids.

In my humble opinion, Craig is the best. He dosen't have the dashing good looks of Connery or Brosnan or even George Lazenby, but that makes him have to convince you that he is Bond. We went to see the Roger Moore 007's to see how Q was going to top the gadgets in the previous movie, but they were still great Bond movies. In Casino Royale, Craig created the Bond we all know and love by actually acting and not relying strictly on good looks and awseome gadgets from Q. Bond is a superhero without being able to fly or shoot webs. There is nothing "reality" about a Bond movie. You expect Bond to do extraordinary things in every scene.

Daniel Craig and Casino Royale set the bar, let's see if the next one can follow it. Again, in my humble opinion.

I have to agree. Craig is the best in my opinion, too. I loved Connery but ... watching my old favorite, Goldfinger, after seeing the new CR ... made me like Connery less. Sorry, guys.

I still lean in Dalton's favour, but my hope is that Craig will be allowed to evolve the character into the best interpretation of Fleming's Bond yet. If he gets it right then the process should be as satisfying as the result.

Because Dalton was (and is) a far better actor than his predecessors and immediate successor in the role. I could believe him as a cold-hearted killer, as someone who had learned sophistication, and as someone who cared very deeply about the few people he allowed to get close enough to be his friends.

James Bond is a git. He has to be if he's going to be his job. The actor playing him has to balance that with all the other Bond stuff and that's a tough job to do well. Dalton had the chops to do that more convincingly than anyone else I've seen so far, but these are the same reasons that I'm looking forward to seeing what Craig does with the part.

I was a Craig naysayer at first, but I was wrong. The man has some serious moves.

I think the title for the new one doesn't "fit". Hopefully they change it, but some things just have a 'Bond' feel. Much like Madonna's song didn't.

As for me, they could have called this movie: "Don't See This Bond Movie" and I would still be there opening night.

Let me add my voice for those who like Craig. If this movie is as good as CR, he goes to the top of my list as my favorite Bond.

Well....it sounds like a Sci-Fi title, which is what I meant by it not fitting. Solace in the title doesn't exactly say "action packed" either. Even my husband, who read all of the books and knows more about Bond that anyone I know wrinkled his nose at it.

I agree that it sounded, at first, like a Sci-Fi title. However, after re-reading the article posted by Doc, it sounds like the movie is going to be very revenge-oriented based on Bond's heartbreak. While he will never get Vespa [Vesper - see post below] back, he can seek a little solace from killing the bad guys. If that it what the producers are going after, calling it "A Little Revenge" (or something to that effect) is unsatisfying because it ignores Bond's emotional state. As such, the title is growing on me because it incorporates his mental state of mind. From the article:

Craig said the cryptic title referenced how Bond's heart had been broken at the end of Casino Royale.

"Ian Fleming had written about relationships," he explained.

"When they go wrong, when there's nothing left, when the spark has gone, when the fire's gone out, there's no quantum of solace.

"And at the end of the last movie, Bond has the love of his life taken away from him and he never got that quantum of solace."

Craig said the new film would follow 007 as he goes out "to find the guy who's responsible".
