I'm sorry to hear that Binkie, but I'm sure Modi is resilient & will be around for quite awhile.
"... he also seems very happy!! and playful again, so it is quite a relief, the Vet did say they become accustomed to not seeing, but I am really amazed with how well he copes"
"Modi one of my Italian Greyhounds went blind last week, he may have been loosing his sight over a period of time, but when I came home one afternoon he was sitting in the middle of the sitting room floor ignoring me. He was a bit timid and would not go into the garden, however, now he is carrying on as if he can see, he is not bumping into anything and can run in and out of the garden with ease, which involves some steps from the french doors in the dinning room. he also seems very happy!! and playful again, so it is quite a relief, the Vet did say they become accustomed to not seeing, but I am really amazed with how well he copes"
My neighbour had a blind dog but you wouldn't know if you weren't told, I think we tend to forget that eyesight isn't a dog's primary sense.I had a dog go blind a couple years ago. It's amazing how little it affected him. He still happily went on hikes on unfamiliar, uneven ground (on a leash, to keep him from walking into or off of things) and only slowed down a little in familiar environments.
That's a beautiful dog you've got there HeyMoe, but golden boxer? I've never heard of a black dog described as golden before. Here's mine:
Jethro - 2 years old on on Dec 5th. He doesn't look like it but he is a golden boxer!
