I read through the linked thread. Mostly fools and knaves. Dressing well and behaving as a gentleman never goes out of style. I think there’s envy driving some of those comments.

I don’t demand people dress well nor do I look down on the jeans and tee shirt crowd. Why should they look down on you for having different sartorial preferences? I look forward to your postings and I marvel at your style.

My sentiment entirely, wear whatever you want, just as long as it preserves your decency. Thanks again for your kind remarks.

The rain was persisting down this morning, but now the sun has well and truly got his hat on and he's coming out to play. Do you know, I think I might just join him and give The Biltmore an outing.

The style of straw hat that Esther made lends itself to most of my summer blazers. The strong red of the hatband contrasts perfectly, it's always a delight to wear it. And would you believe, my wife Tina made the bow tie?

Love the baggy trousers and those bold blazers. Keep up the good work.

And yes, Esther's hats are amazing!

sergejvandervreede, thanks for the compliment about my trousers. I have another pair in the offing, Tina has bought a lovely strong material that you might call charcoal, but it's also similar to a black that has faded. There's a subtle pattern in there too and this the pattern that she will use to make them.

What a fantastic collection, but where is the Optimo Panama? How am I ever going to teach you the intricacies of the weird game of cricket if you haven't got the hat to wear to a cricket match. Did you know that two sides can play a game of cricket that lasts for five days? And it can still end in a draw. Here's how it's played:

You have two sides, one out in the field and one in. Each man that's in the side that's in goes out, and when he's out he comes in and the next man goes in until he's out. When they are all out, the side that's out comes in and the side thats been in goes out and tries to get those coming in, out. Sometimes you get men still in and not out.

When a man goes out to go in, the men who are out try to get him out, and when he is out he goes in and the next man in goes out and goes in. There are two men called umpires who stay all out all the time and they decide when the men who are in are out. When both sides have been in and all the men have been out, and both sides have been out twice after all the men have been in, including those who are not out, that is the end of the game!

May I quote you on this?

I guess an optimo IS in order, then!
