I really hope Chris gets some more orders in and gets that half belt into production. The more I wear this thing (I know, I've flirted with selling it) the more I want to advocate for it. For $600, not bad. It's a bit different than a mil-spec A-2, but the leather has it going on. Just really well-designed overall.

Nick, I've been in contact with Chris about making my slash pocket A2 and I mentioned the interest on here about his half belt. He had built one for a customer and is planning to start marketing it soon. He said he will forward me some photos and I will past them here with his permission.

Nick, although I am very new to this forum here, I am not new to these kind of clothing...
To my eyes your A-2 looks very much ok on you, considering you have got the right starure for it! I have seen many with - let me be careful - not so appropriate statures wearing these kind of jackets and really look very funny. You just have to adjust the other parts of your wardrobe to this jacket, say different pant cut, Shirt tucked in, a shorter type of sweater which is a narrower fit and you will be perfect! To these jackets I like it when the pants are wide in the legs and taper slightly to the boot and are an A-cut at the waist (cut of old HBT uniform pants). Just my 2¢.

Have fun

Thanks for that. In a way I disagree with you. I think bigger guys can at times look really good in A-2s, etc. It's hard to explain. But take my Dad, he just got one of those Sporty's in an XL(made by Cockpit?) beige cloth A-2s, and he just looks natural in it. Larger to me, exudes confidence. I can't explain it. A lot of the bigger dudes who poke fun at themselves here regarding their drift from that skinny WWII cut don't realize that that "20-something" physique is overrated.

But no doubt, those jeans in my pic are god awful. Kohl's (department store) has some gems in the rough, but that was a piece of coal. :/

One more thing; the other night I let my date wear it as we walked a few blocks between bars. I offered it to her, saying "I swear on my life, you look absolutely phenomemal in it.."

Her response: "it's kind of stiff, I can't move my arms"

"Yeah, high armholes. It's kind of tight but you'll get used to it. Please keep it, or at least let me take a picture of you to get professionally framed to hang over my fireplace.." Something to that tune.

She wasn't into it, but as soon as we got into the next bar, the bouncer told her "nice jacket..."

of course you are right, Nick, apologies. It all depends on if a person has a "standing". Clothes can support this as it must be the case with your dad. Sometimes I ask myself, why does this guy look so cool in that Balmaccan while I look like a fool in it..? Something from the man's inside must be amplified by the coat and it is like a perfect unit.
And this is of course not depending on weight. But I bet, your dad has a good stature though as this also is not depending on weight but total appearance..
And I keep saying, your Jacket fits you well.

Enjoy

Heres my take on the jacket length. All the pictures that Ive seen that were taken during WW2, flyers wore them with a length right at the belt line. I think this was a must do thing because pilots did not need the jackets interfering with parachute harness's and 5 point seat harnesses common in aircraft at the time. I think the longer length today is purely fashion and Im ok with that because it does look better with some types of clothing. Its simply a matter of preference and taste today. What does current active military regs require with jacket length today ? Anybody know ?

The problem with all of our jackets is basically they stay the same size, and we don't.
If I were more better behaved, I'd be OK, but when life throws curveballs, I tend to forget to adjust. All I have to do now is lose 20 lbs and my current jacket issue is gone. It will happen. I know better than to buy clothing to adjust to my current form. I just need to get with it...

I don't know why, but I've always loved the particular design and colors of the dials and instruments used by the Soviets during the '40's and '50's. Lots of creams, reds, and oranges.
