Is my Aerial Star jacket too short??

I am not too fussed about lenght or precision fit. I have all kind of fits in my wardrobe.

+1 I will be keeping a space in my wardrobe for a Windward. I don't think that asking about the length is a sign that the jacket is consigned to history. Sometimes when you buy a new style that you're not used to, it can look a bit 'odd' and the Lounge members can help people get over their doubts.

I agree, it's getting used to the correct fit for each different style. I've had a few mc jackets that felt too short, when in reality, that's how they were supposed to fit. It's all up to you mate, you have to wear it. I contacted Those guys a few times as they had said they were going to release a couple of mc jackets. It never happened, which is a shame, they seem like decent folk, would have been happy to spend a few dollars there.

I appreciate your honesty Seb. I too think generally I prefer a longer jacket, probably longer than needed. Makes for a more versatile jacket. I'm happy there is some positive feedback with this one, but I do appreciate your thoughts just the same. I have a few others and I'm far from finished acquiring jackets so this one has a place for the time being.

You'll always find people who like too short or too long jackets. As I think you know, if you're not fundamentally happy, external validation ain't going to fix it. As someone else put it earlier, my sense is you think it's too short and that feeling will never pass.

After looking studiously at many photos of aircrew in original A-2s, I decided that my A-2 was fine, but all my other clothes weren't. And a good thing it was too, since I now care a lot more about the clothes I buy and wear.

That's exactly it. Even though I have a pretty loose attire myself, I feel sophisticated wearing one of these jackets in my class, where yoga pants and basketball shorts are the norm. I stick out like a sore thumb!

A-2's were meant for flight crews in cramped quarters. There is no way a guy would want a long and/or baggy jacket in those conditions.

Today's pants in general are of a lower rise, which can exaggerate the feeling that it's too short.
Everyone should wear what they like. If you're not comfortable, then as has been said, you likely won't ever be.

I think it looks nice. Some don't. We don't matter in the end.

What I meant was more that it now has a history. We all talk about breaking in a jacket...making it our own with stories and wear. Well, this one is sure getting the treatment, and yet it keeps coming back to him. It looks good Nick, and will continue to IMHO

you tuck in your t-shirt there and then pull it out until it is billowing around your waist... just my opinion but I think all jacket would look bad or baggy when worn over that way of tucking especially since your jacket has knit waistband. when your shirt is totally tucked in or totally untucked, then the jacket length won't be a problem.

I wonder how much of our length perception issues is due to living in a era of low-rise pants (which have become popular presumably because they fit under modern man's fat stomachs?)?
I bought some repro WW2 khaki US Army pants from At The Front (like the ones worn in the movie Red Tails). Nice heavy pants for wearing in winter BTW, but most importantly the rise is much higher than any modern pants, and they make the A-2's proportions look perfect. So I think that it's not a jacket issue here, but a pants issue. You gotta stay in shape if your gonna wear high rise pants!

BTW Nick, I always thought your Arial Star was awesome value for money.
