How many new jackets do you have coming (and how many potential ones)?

Yet another racer coming my way. I need to stop!!!! (not, ;)). This time it is the Score brand from Canada - I am intrigued by the CR front and the trucker-ish back combination. We shall see...:)

Warning: you might not care for repros after this if the fit is good. I love that one. Saw it today. Really solid looking and that Herc HH is fab.

I actually had followed that listing for a while and he didn’t relist. I messaged him and he was willing to put it back up as a BIN for to make the sale.

Ive actually been eyeballing a Goodgal that looks to be the same model as the one you just outfitted. It’s just so impractical for me down in Louisiana that it’s pure fantasy to think I’ll get use out of it. Now if I move....

I know exactly the jacket you are talking about. It’s been in my Etsy “heart” collection for a good long while. That’s why I pounced on the one that I knew would fit! You’ll get far more use out of the Herc for sure. Something about the OG vintage stuff. Lately it just really scratches where I itch. There’s something unmistakably genuine in these 50’s jackets too. They feel more legit. I didn’t always feel that way.

My first foray into vintage horsehide. A very nice-looking Hercules half belt. Should get here during the week?

Pretty pumped, fingers crossed for the fit!

Looking forward to your review of this Hercules. I kept looking at it, but I did not recognize it. Not like any 50s Hercules I have seen. It has an older look with the front pocket configuration and the Cuffs. I recently sold a 50s HH Hercules that I had not seen for sale. I did find it in a Sears catalog. I will look this one up.

It is not the standard/typical 50s Hercules jacket that I see for sale. During the 50s the line up seems fairly consistent. The catalog offerings were smaller and show up regularly on the second hand market. Interesting jacket.

Very curious to know what you find in the catalogs!

I considered reaching out to you before buying it. But hey, experience is the best teacher after all.

I’ll definitely do a write up once it arrives. Can’t wait!

My eBay 613H came in. It's been lightly used with good grain showing so far, but still has a lot of breaking in to do to get it to mold to my body and drape better. I think it's a great fit to start though even if it's on the shorter side as it was custom 1" shorter than stock. I think I can make it work though.

That's absolutely perfect. Nailed it.

Congrats on this pick up!!!! I'm a true vintage fan myself and particularly a fan of the American made older jackets. I was able to snag one of these same (or very similar) jackets in my size (Vintage size 46) this past Christmas Day. It really was a Festivus Miracle!!! :p

I had been following the jacket you bought for awhile because I hadn't seen this design other than the one I have. The Horsehide is as advertised on these early Hercules jackets. Mine has more surface wear than yours appears to have. I haven't cleaned/conditioned mine since getting it but the thickness and the sturdiness of the hide is just what you hope for. THIS jacket is what they were peddling in Terry's Sears Catalogs for like, $22.50 in the 50s!!!!!!!!!!

Its odd to not have seen a Hercules design like this before (and if even Terry hasn't seen it--that's saying something). Its odd to me because the design aspects are all very typically seen on many jackets: the combo handwarmer/pouch style lower front pockets is commonplace as are the upper chest zipper pocket and the pleated back panel flowing into the half belt with side adjusters. Its just that we haven't seen this combination of features together on a Hercules of this presumed era. Not that I can recall anyway.

I am really curious to see and hear about your new/old Herc! Looks to be in really good shape. Below are a quick few pics of mine. I see but a few minor differences in the two:

1.) The label location on yours is near the collar while mine is in the lower left inside of the jacket.
2.) The chest pocket on your jacket seems to be angled whereas mine is straight horizontally.
3.) I believe your cuffs are shaped a bit differently than mine with the part where the button hole is being pointier on mine.
4.) The pocket flap for the pouch pockets are different. Mine look more scalloped possibly than yours.
5.) Lastly, mine has the diamond shaped Talon pocket pull instead of the round/hoop one.

I'm sure others would notice even more little differences between the two. I'd guess that these subtle differences would place these jackets very close in age. The Liners appear to be identical.

I have a feeling you are going to be stoked!!!!!! Looking forward to your reporting back to us!!!!!!!!

All the little details!

And imagine paying roughly $250 at the department store for a quality Horsehide jacket!

Here’s the label picture from the listing. Maybe @tmitchell59 or someone else with the knowledge can get relative dates between our jackets.

Cool jacket @Claybertrand :)

Early Mall Jackets!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: Before there were Malls, there were large department stores that were regional at first and many sold through catalogs (like the ones Terry has from Sears) to reach markets beyond their own locales. So these jackets were sold at/thru these stores that would later anchor the now declining Malls in this country. Essentially, these Hercules jackets were the first "MALL JACKETS"!!!!!! Pretty bitchen Mall Jackets I'd say!!!

Ok, regarding the two labels and the two jackets, having seen the pics many times myself on eBay the last few months, I sorta assumed that one you just picked up was the older of yours and mine. Something about the cuffs and the less scalloped pouch pocket tops led me to think it was older for some reason.

Now I would always defer to Terry ESPECIALLY on these old Sears jackets, but after looking at the two labels, I think mine might be the older of the two. My not to be relied upon nit-picking reasoning is that the label on yours seems to me a bit more refined. The additional term "Outerwear" suggests perhaps the marketing of the brand had evolved a little bit. The name of "Sears" instead of the full "Sears, Roebuck And Co." further suggests that the Sears name had itself become known enough to go by "Sears" alone. Finally, the small circled "R" on your jacket is the symbol is the more modern way of stating that an item has a Registered Trademark while mine has the long hand equivalent "REG. U.S. PAT. OFF."
*****However, this Registered Trademark symbol difference may well be insignificant in dating the jackets as it was introduced in 1946 (presumptively several years before these jackets were made) so the fact one is using it and not the other may not mean anything. They could just be simply two different labels that Sears used at that time.

The diamond and chain Talon pocket pull on mine MAY indicate an older vintage than the more common hoop and chain but I don't think anyone has ever definitively proven the diamond pulls are necessarily era specific or indicative of age.

Again, I'd love to see some pics of your new gem as would the rest of the Lounge. Really hoping you have a nice fit too. The true vintage Grail jacket for me HAS to include that perfect fit. It's so hard to find--especially in vintage jackets. I'm hoping this one checks all the boxes for you.;)

So here’s a cool historical tid bit. I lived in a house in the Rogers Park neighborhood of Chicago that was originally a train depot. Across the street was a huge building that was an original Sears warehouse that served as a delivery point for catalog goods. They were carried through the city via horse and trailer. It was an art gallery when I lived there.

Drove there again today when I went out to buy lunch, cant make it before the long holiday break, but i tried it on again, a bit softer today and i can obviously ride in it, from various hand position the sleeve doesnt ride up and perfectly seals, i get right decission on having this one end right at the wrist, any longer and my wrist wont be able to move. I love how the upper sleeve already almost drapes
