How many new jackets do you have coming (and how many potential ones)?

Imagine buying an elmc californian direct from Eastman. £1200 +£30 Shipping.
£1230*1.12 (customs fee)=£1378
£1378*1.21 (VAT)=£1667 =€1850

That's €1850 for a stock Eastman jacket.

I could buy a custom Shinki hh Thedi from that money and still have €300 left in my pocket.

Same holds for Aero, Field Leathers and any other maker from the UK.

Ah, yes that’s right as @Mandarin pointed out. I’ve never purchased from them, but seemed to remember someone saying that their workshop was in Greece? Hence my confusion on their location.

Let's make these guys some money. Best part, once they become famous, all those other slackers are going to have to up their game to keep up.

I'm down for this. That jacket that was sold to Robbie looked great

There was also that bespoke French cyclist jacket post recently that looked rather interesting. Maybe makers in other parts of Europe will gain from this

I read that there are some rules about an item being produced in the UK that may be releived from some of the fees that are coming with import.
I should also say that it is quite hard to understand the whole thing. Don’t take my words for the absolute truth as I don’t think everything clears until we have grown in to it some time next year. There are about 2000 points in the agreement to understand. It wasn’t meant to be a Brexit thread

Cheers Joakim

The brexit will also impact the second hand market. Jackets sold by UK based sellers like 'mintvintage 66' will become more expensive. I can also image second hand Aero jackets getting more expensive within the European market.

As an outsider looking in, I find it very interesting. I'm intrigued how forum members from mainland Europe and those from the British Isles react to this. Especially concerning when it is about leather jackets lol

We'll see. I have an order coming from UK. I checked the government's site concerning taxes, but it's like navigating in the mist. They can't provide a simple guideline to calculate taxes according to the value of your goods. In the worst of cases, I'll have to add half of the value, like @Marc mndt calculated. Which, again, is going to completely change the game for me.

You are assuming the VAT is paid twice. That won’t happen.

This is exactly how it works when I buy something from the US or from China and import it into the European union.

Do you think I will be able to buy from Eastman/Aero without paying VAT?
