What cons do you see by Hornskov hats if i may ask?
Marcel, It is difficult to say what are the cons of hats seen only in photography. You can judge a hat by holding it, wearing it and having others to compare it with. As for the felt I belong to the old school: no Italian and I think European felt manufacturer would have never told you what the components used to make that felt were. It was the secret, like the coloring, more well preserved in the production of hats. What cons do you see by Hornskov hats if i may ask?
Very nice hat. Stingy, looks very James Spader/blacklist. I like it. Any headshots yet? Can you compare this hat to other North American hatters? Art Fawcett?I came across Hornskov here on the forum, and was attracted by the originality and quality of their work. I had a look at their site and after some email correspondence decided to pull the trigger. They responded in detail very quickly and the free international postage on offer was an additional reason to try them out. I could not be more pleased - the rabbit felt chosen (the very last of their Navy) is superb - the beaver of course has to be better; the lining is original; and the overall finish excellent.
Strongly recommend - superb work, service and great quality hat.
Thanks! This is their Modern Center dent, and they also have a classic center crease which has a taller crown with straighter sides, although I`d have to classify mine with quite a classic tallish crown, with pretty straight sides. Always difficult to compare hatters - you would have to see their site for their own style - but in terms of finish - quality of liner is superb, (stitched in), ribbon work is very well done, and all in all I would rate this very highly. See their Instagram too for their house style and variations.
I particularly like their thinner leather band which makes the hat less heavy if that makes sense, the original lining, free international postage, and the variation of their style.

It’s been a while, but I seem recall that they didn’t offer blocks as straight-sided as I wanted. Just my personal preference.
My 3rd Hornskov is in the make right now. I'm a big fan.
That's a great one. I ordered a center crease custom made in natural beaver.Just booked marked the Alberti.

I think the problem can be generalized to the block options Peter has. Depends on the size too. Mine came straight enough but much lower than I asked for and the reply wasn't very satisfactory... Anyways overall I liked the hat so I kept it.It’s been a while, but I seem recall that they didn’t offer blocks as straight-sided as I wanted. Just my personal preference.

And that’s one of the things that makes me hesitate. What do I do when I receive a transatlantic hat that isn’t to my specifications? I’d want straight-sided and a full 6” open crown. If I’m paying for a custom hat I expect it to be just as I ordered it and without compromises.
Nice hat though, but what was Peter's reply?
