Sometimes you come across a hatbrand you've never seen before but it still ticks all the boxes. Here's one of those. I'm even unsure about the brand. Burghausen styled by City Club. German made (I think) in a great colour colour combination. Size 57 (damn) with the brim at 6cm and the crown 11cm at the pinch. Nice hand to the felt and it shapes easily. That's all I can say about it really.

What colors are we looking at here for the felt and ribbon?

You have me there, Doug. I am in fact colourblind (red/green variety), so it's hard for me to name colours that are more subtle. I'd say it's definitely a combination of greys, but with a warm tone to them.
It comes across to me as a darker taupe color with a darker brown hue than my natural felt... and the ribbon shows more beige on my monitor.

Saks homburg (of sorts). Size 7 with the brim at 4,5cm an the crown 11cm in front. This may actually be more like the original homburg with its pronounced taper and very narrow brim, but it feels 'costumy' to me. Not like what we've come to expect from homburgs these days. I added the brim curve, which improves it somewhat. Very well made hat though and it's a great colour. The label looks exactly like the ones on my Knox hats, so they might be the maker. As soon as the next 19th century costume drama gets made I'll be ready for it.

When it showed up the first thing I noticed was the taper. I do agree that it is very well made. You win some and you loose some. It was not crazy expensive on Ebay, so that is good.

Here's an update on the battered Battersby Homburg I posted just over a week ago. I've posted a similar update elsewhere, but thought it belonged here, too.
In another thread, Ruvort suggested that the Battersby would perhaps suit the "University Touch" as on a "snap brim Homburg" (a hat style from the 20s/30s that didn't catch on) and then linked me to a scan he'd posted.
AbbaDatDeHat posted a photo of Basil Rathbone wearing what appears to be a snap brim Homburg in a Sherlock Holmes film from the 1930s. I now believe my Battersby to have originally been made as such a snap brim Homburg. I've steamed and steamed it, shaped and shaped it. Below are photos showing how it looked when I bought it and how it looks as a snap brim and also as a large brim Homburg.
I think it looks good either way and I can wear it up or down as befits my mood at the time.

Good bit of sleuthin', Steve. The brim down look is not my cup of tea, I'll admit. I like it much better with the brim up.

Thanks, Stefan. I had a good deal of help sleuthing from my fellow Loungers. Thanks to them all.
I know what you mean about the brim down. The fun part is, I can swing either way with it depending on my mood [emoji4]

R. & M. Wegener, 58cm possibly late 1920s. I was happy to find this hat because pre WWII R. & M. Wegener Soft Felts are a rare find. I have one other so this makes two and there are no others here. The felt color and finish are fantastic, same with the form and dressing. Unfortunately the paper label is missing but there is a small size tag.

Super find, Steve. Congrats. Various shades of brown suit Homburgs so well. I'm surprised more were not produced in the varieties of that colour.

I thought about this thread today and how I had been neglecting it. Glad you are here to keep it where it belongs, Steve. Super find and great additional info too. Suprisingly narrow brim for that period to my eye, but it was probably one of many many shapes.

Stefan, Thanks again! It could be from the 1930s. In the time / place such Curled Brim Soft Felts Hats would have various forms + dimensions.

Before I forget again I'll start off with this thread for some new hats.
First one. Borsalino Export Qualität homburg in Mirtillo colour. Size 58 (7 1/4 American), with the brim a smidge over 5,5cm and the crown 10,5cm at the pinch. Blue homburg hats are always of interest, but this has something else worth of note too. The price label was still inside and it was dated. While I would have put this one in the late sixties to early seventies it was in fact dated 110479, so 1979. It cost 63,75 DM then. I don't know how much that would be today but it wasn't cheap.
Anyway, here it is.

Third one is a Borsalino again. Sold to me as a size 62, which would perhaps have made someone on the lounge happy, but it is in fact a size 60, Which may also make someone happy, but not the same person. These don't come around much in the larger sizes.
Borsalino homburg in black. Size 61/2 punti (60 European) with the brim at 6cm and the crown 11cm at the pinch. A commanding hat in very nice condition.

3 super Homburgs, Stefan. Congrats. I especially like the first Borsalino in mirtillo. Bilberry is a great colour for a hat.
