New around here, but been lurking for a while. Looking to tap into the wisdom of the lounge crowd. Picked up this p613s size L from the classifieds this week. Need some objective feedback on fit. The chest, arms and shoulders feel right but the body seems pretty voluminous on me. I'm a 42 in Vanson with a 41 chest and 31/32 waist. This jacket is really nice, comfortable and badass...so I don't trust myself.

The jacket looks a little big on you from the back. If you like, share more photos? Try to take another images with the way you mainly intend to wear it. However, this time, zip the main zipper and properly secure the belt.

I think it looks good with the layers you’ve got under it. If it ends up looking too loose with just a t-shirt, you’ve just got to hit the gym harder to fix it.

It does look loose from the back. Looks good from all other angles. You should probably just sell it to me for a fraction of what you paid for it. That would be the smart move.

I think it works great as is, but I would think a size down would be spot on(but I do like my jackets to fit rather trim so just my two cents )

Wouldn't stress it if you like the jacket though!

Something I’ve noticed with crosszips which isn’t discussed too much but I see often is how they can look perfect from the front but be a bit big from the back. The issue then is that the next size down will fix the back but then can make it hard, harder or near impossible to zip it up. There’s a few reasons; the belt/side cinches are not effective, or the wearer isn’t utilizing them. The underarm footballs, gussets and action backs can add size to the shoulders on the backside, or the shoulders are too wide in general.
This can all be avoided by going custom of course but the cost grows exponentially. I think it wouldn’t hurt to try the next size down if possible, but I also wouldn’t stress out about having a bit of material excess on the back. The front is what everyone notices, what you see when you look down or in the mirror. Plus the general public rarely if ever noticed the random small details we see. They will just notice an amazing badass jacket.

Zipped up, I think the fit looks great! If you're a 41 but wear a Vanson 42, it seems like you like a little more room with your jackets, which is totally fine. How does it look unzipped?

C2 wears pretty much true to size. This is a 38. To me it is pretty much a perfect crosszip.

Not the Vanson C2 if it is correctly sized. I am sure some Schotts as well.

I mean it can happen to any jacket and any person. I had a c2 and loved it. It was just a size too big and I had to sell it. I would grab another for the right price instantly. But sometimes it’s just the way the person is shaped as well. We’re not all the same size, shape etc…so I am glad that fits you so well but someone can huge shoulders and a tiny waist, no shoulders and a big gut, being wide bodied but very thin.

So while companies like Vanson for sure know what they are doing and have some of the best patterns in existence full stop. Things can still look funny even with a perfect pattern and buying the “correct size.” You really have to know your own measurements and not only the measurements of the jacket but the materials used. If it’s super stiff leather or does it have some drape to it, what kind of liner does it use? And it’s not specific to cross-zips it’s just usually more common in them as they typically have a belt, and the action backs/shoulder gussets.

Alas we live and learn it can take a long long time for people to figure out sizing and even when you think you have it figured out some jackets armhole height or angle of stitching used somewhere throws you off!

PS will say that jacket does look good on you and makes me miss my C2!

Yeah, I guess I am lucky that I have a perfectly average build (on the slimmer side), so most jackets fit if sized properly. I have a few searches set up for a Vanson C2 so if I see a 36 under $300 I will let you know. For the money they can't be beat. Very popular in Japan.

But I don't want to hijack a Schott thread with this C2. Schotts look great too, particularly on the Ramones!
