The thing is I have a 38" inch chest right now but the shoulders of a 42. So the chest is really roomy. Do you think that will mold properly? I know someone here put measurements of their 40 with 18.4 inch shoulders.

Anyways here are some fit pics. The fit of the shoulders is great but the shape in the torso is loose.

Yes, it does look roomy. On the other hand, you are just wearing a T-Shirt here, so layering my be the solution.

I think, you can try one size down; all in all, I would still be happy with this fit.

BTW I found this video that shows how horsehide shapes over time. At least for this jacket.

I have the same jacket. My all-time favourite hide!

This video made me miss-order the first time around.

I think the jacket looks a full size too small on TJ. This is deceptive though, as he rain-showered and sun-dried the jacket multiple times, so it has in fact shrunk. The jacket fits true to size if you don´t put it through the wringer as he did.

The hide is thicker and much more "spongy" than the leather of the 613SH; the later will shape to your body just fine with wear, but it will never have the exafct same "wet-towel" drape as the Y2.

It doesn't look too big on you. It just looks new. Once it gets wet and worn and molds to you, it won't be hanging away from your body anymore.

Bear in mind that the TFL preference for an exact-fitting back and chest means a jacket that no one can move in. I think I posted in another thread a video of my tailor explaining this to one of his customers, who I'm sure knew this but the point was to help people understand. Back drape is the only way to get freedom of movement, with the exception of cheating a bit with a full bi-swing back (which basically conceals the extra material inside the sides). Most of us have at least a jacket or two that has a "clean" back and therefore is impossible to move in.

The reality is that you can go up in chest size (to an extent) but never down.

So just an update. You're totally right on the body molding. It actually looks tapered now.

I have not even worn it recently but it was just humid in my apartment which made the leather just soft everywhere.

Part of the reason I belive is that out of the box the jacket is flat and tends to bias jutting out to the side.

As it breaks in the jacket is much more 3D if that makes sense...tube like. The jacket no longer looks like it's flaring out.

I'm a 38 chest and I am wearing a 42. It's magic.

Given that...I believe that 1 size up from your true chest size will give you the PERFECT fit. It will look good but not feel contricted.

Yeah that'll do it. I ended up putting it in the shower to get wet outside lol because it was autumn so not humid.

So you will be keeping it now ? Or fancy dropping it off in Lancaster.

I am afraid it would be too small for you. In this case, numbers don’t tell the full story. I believe, you would be good in a 44. I know I am, and it fits smaller than a 44 Vanson “E”.

Tom,I appreciate your advice, thank you.

Don’t mention it.

I was torn between a 42 and a 44 when I was about to pull the trigger on mine. Everybody seemed to caution me to size up, but the numbers seemed to suggest otherwise.

It’s a slim fitting pattern for sure, and I am still happy with the 44 even after shedding an astonishing 10kg.

Dropped my p613s at the post office today on its way to the Schott factory for replacement sleeve zippers (one is broken) and a loose stitch on a wrist seam. Hoping there is sufficient residual CXL aroma in the armoire to carry me through until it's returned.

Could not find CXL but if in need of a fix maybe these would do?
They are luxurious, sensual and hand dipped!
Rugged Leather™ incense sticks. A luxurious leather fragrance filled with deep notes of cedar, warm amber, sensual musk and sandalwood.

It's a cruel reality that these jackets are as soft as fondant at this time of year when it's nearly unbearable to even think of putting one on. I was at Vanson (no A/C in their showroom) last summer trying on jackets and the claustrophobia of having the sleeves stick to my arms from the humidity was something else. Still left with a jacket, though!
