My wife has made most of our clothes, it's a passion of her's. She spent her working life in the ambulance service, but still found time to make her dresses and my shirts, as well as whole lot of other stuff. When she retired I had a bespoke cabin built for her, more than a shed, it's an insulated, double walled, double glazed professionally designed workshop. Photobucket is down at the moment, when it's back I will show you a picture of her cabin.


The Señoritas on my shirt are smiling, I'm smiling, but the sun is just not co-operating. It's because the Wimbledon tournament is on. And that means the missus is glued to the TV, so I'm out shopping for a few groceries. I think we'll have lamb chops this evening.

Thanks for the compliments, much appreciated. It's The British Grand Prix next weekend (8th July) I used to go every year, but that was due to my company, being a sister company to another in the conglomerate. That sister company was a chemical firm, they supplied lubricants and the fuel for the cars. We all got VIP complimentary tickets. We had access to the pits, the winner's enclosure and the marquee where the celebration meal was served on Sunday evening. Sometimes I do miss my corporate days. Still, I bet nobody at Silverstone has a vintage racing car shirt.

Whenever you think of the Golden Era, you think of travel, first class travel, of course. In photos of the period there's suitcases, piled high, as well as trunks, chests, hat boxes and all the paraphernalia that went with travel. Only for the privileged few, working people only got to travel by being gophers to rich. This shirt depicts that era perfectly.

Today, we were invited to display the MG at a vintage event called Shake and Stir. The event is a mix of vintage stalls, 40's bands, classic cars and lots of people entering into the spirit of it all. A Golden Era shirt depicting scenes from The Great Gatsby is a must for such an event.
Whilst we were there, a stall holder, a local artist name of Richard Watkin, was selling his artistic work by way of greeting cards, that were recreations of his acrylic paintings. One such painting, taken from a photograph, was my MG.
Here's a picture of the Gatsby shirt and also that of Richard's amazing depiction of my MG. I do hope you like his work as much as I do. What an honour, I really can't get over it.

Back to The Shake and Stir Festival this morning, I'm busy cooking Tina's breakfast, we have to be at the gig by eleven. There was some fine European pre-war cars that I saw yesterday as well as some of America's finest.
We rocked our socks off at a club last night, my hip is giving me grief for it this morning.
The singer of one of today's bands really likes my shirt, the one depicting scenes from the song: "Route 66." I shall wear that shirt today, Karl, the band's singer, for whom Tina made a similar shirt for his birthday, might wear his too. We shall see.

Have you ever been caught on camera with your mouth wide open? At Shake & Stir today, the blazer off, the felt replaced with a more comfortable straw, cameras everywhere. Fine if you are given the chance to pose, but when you are caught saying: "No wait!" And ignored, it does make for the goldfish gape, but I did try to smile, contrived though it seems.

You are a man of good taste sir, the MG had real class before it became a badge engineered clone.
Late evening and a shirt that allows various colour trousers to either match or contrast it. A bamboo design that has more than a passing nod to the cannabis plant.

Thanks for the compliment, we did get photographed quite a lot on that day, even got asked: "Where did you get your hats?"
The bright sunshine makes the yellow shirt look faded, looks more like a lemon colour, but it's actually a strong yellow with antique and modern aircraft depicted on it.

Does technology work for you? For me, it's a minefield. The weather today is a mixed bag, I went outside to photograph the shirt and felt quite a few heavy spots of rain. So in order to protect my Stetson, I had the brainwave of using a skylight as a backdrop, plenty of daylight there. The skylight frame was in camera shot so I simply cropped it out. Downloaded it onto the computer and there's the window frame, recheck the edited photo, frame cropped out. Is it me? I'm sure that I have this sadistic techno-whizz of a ghost who haunts me. I can't fathom sat-navs or smart phones, and as for television recorders, I would rather stick pins in my eyeballs than try to set up one of those. How lucky am I to have retired from logistics? Imagine me and the fun that I would have coming to terms with those handhold computer scanners that drivers have, the ones where you have to sign your name on the screen.
Give me old fashion values, handwritten letters, aloha shirts and a smart hat, anyday.

This is one of my favourite shirt prints. It looks floral but is no more than a collection of abstract swirls.
