Source? It may well be that some former Nazis slipped into the police force, but no one would seriously claim that this was politically acceptable in any way. These symbols were not in use at the time and are definitely not in use on any official uniforms.
It's fair to say there are myriad symbols that any nation carries across a range of eras, some of which pick up negative associations at some time and another - some fatally so, others temporarily. Some of these older symbols the predated the Reich period have in some shape or form carried forward, others (the Stahlhelm in particular) were dropped after 1945.
Let's not disappear into a rabbit hole and distract from the main thread, but...
