Did Hückel or so make velour hats for Cavanagh?

Not that I am aware of but I guess it's possible since it's a Velour. It's a Firtz Hückel Hutmacher Weilheim export (as we can see from the sweatband with "Made in Western Germany" stamp) probably mid to late 1950s. I wonder if the liner is original to the hat? Does the Cavanagh logo match the time period? I am going to contact the seller and try to get more information. Interesting!

This Fritz Hückel Hutmacher Seal Velour (same sweatband) of mine is from the same time period.

Steve the sweats look identical right down to the hanger loop. The auction Cav must be a Hückel don't you think?

Yes it was made by Hückel Weilheim. Hückel Weilheim exported to America under Firtz Hückel Hutmacher Weilheim because TONAK had the Hückel name rights outside of Germany. I contacted the seller and they confirmed that the red size tag on the hanging cord (this feature is on most Hückel Weilheim hats from that time period) has Firtz Hückel Weilheim on the opposite side (the German models would just have Hückel).

I am also quite amazed that Hückel did stuff for Cavanagh.

Over here everything is fine. I was rather busy with other things over the last months. However, summer is over and hats are back on!

Also suprising that the sweatband hanging cord label has Fritz Hückel Weilheim . I seem to recall that JHS and Cavanagh had a business relationship back in the early 20th Century.

I checked Brad's "Dating Cavanagh Hats by Liner" and it appears the logo would be ok for the mid to late 1950s.

Ed, J. Hückel´s Söhne had that feature back to at least the 1930s. I do not recall any other hat companies having them at that time period. After WWII P. & C. Habig and A. Peschel Dinkelsbühl also had them along with TONAK and Hückel Weilheim. Around the mid 1960s they disappear.

I picked up one of the Wiener Homburg Hut adverts but I am still waiting for it to arrive. Points to Homburg hat being a post WWII term in Germany and Austria?

Brüder Böhm Wien Post Card (April 8, 1918) I picked this one up recently. It was sent to a hat store owner (Franz Karzen) in Wamberg, Böhmen, Austria (today Vamberk, Bohemia, Czech Republic).
