Manfred, Very nice Fleamarket haul! I guess the dark charcoal Hückel Weilheim could be considered a rougher velour but I wouldn't classify it as such. It's some what like the Clipper but with a shorter nap. I haven't heard of Peer. Could be one of those unknown made for store models.

You could have right with the Hückel. The felt is very soft and supple.
So many finds but nothing interesting for me here, probably something for Ebay!
However, a shame to let them on the flea market.

David, Great find! I haven't seen a Rockel with that type of liner and logo. My guess is late 50s maybe very early 1960s.

1950s P. & C. Habig Wien, size 57cm but fits fine, very good condition. Really like the brim flange and overall form.

Manfred, Does your Rehfus & Cie ZEPHIR Melone (55.5cm) actually way 70 grams (2.46 ounces)?

The reason I ask is that my J. Hückel´s Söhne Plume Melone (measures around 58cm) weighs 126 grams (4.44 ounces) and it is the lightest Melone / Bowler / Derby I have encountered.

There is a difference in size but 70 grams is amazing. I believe the lightest weight soft felt hats are in that same range.

Steve, I weighed after! weight actually 113 g. I don't know why! Maybe unlined or without a sweatband 70g.

Manfred, Thanks for checking! Yes could be without the liner and sweat. I guess it would be closer to my JHS Plume if a size 58cm. Still these are amazingly light for stiff felt hats. I have to believe they were some of the lighest ever produced (anywhere!).

I think that too, Steve. The french Melone is very heavy in comparison to that Rehfus!
You don't notice the Rehfus If you wearing it!

Mike, no secret! The Melon has a good ventilation! That is the double Ventilator!

Manfred, Can you see the Ventilators? Are there actual vent holes? Or are there vents along the sweatband?
