Since I first saw his engineers I've been drooling over them(very har d to find stuff thats "made in Sweden" today), so when I saw that a local shop sold a second hand pair of Råland Bootmaker engineers in black leather from Maryam(in my size!), I had to spoil myself and get them.

Was really worried about the fit(engineers can be hard to get right as most know) when I was waiting for them to land.
Not only did they fit, I've never had a better fit in any of my boots so I'm stoked beyond belief and can't wait to get some miles in them.

Now for some pictures.

I may make this question it’s own thread, but does anyone have a good suggestion for minimalist footwear that works with heavy jackets.

Minimalist as in no laces, no big soles, less seams?

Can‘t think of anything less flashy than a pair of simple pull-on boots with a round toe (“Chelsea Boots”). Very simple ones are e.g. from R.M. Williams (their outdoor selection), *****&Shoulders or many more.

I have recently bought the “Pecos” boots from Red Wing, and it’s s pretty straightforward too, but I don’t know if it meets your personal take on “minimalist”.

Minimalist as in wide toe box, no heel drop, and a thin sole that's flexible enough to feel the ground through it. A "barefoot" shoe.

Something that feels like this...

I think you’re outta luck. No cushion and no drop is sort of the antithesis of Boot. Some Russel mocs may be close.

Maybe some higher top field sneakers? This is the raison d'être of Danner's Trail shoes, but I haven't tried them myself. Might fit the bill for him.

Got it. Have a look at the boot selection of Grensons. They re-issued an army last (wide toe box, no frills to accommodate all possible foot shapes). Pretty blunt looking, but kinda cool too…

Also, Birkenstock offers a boot (both lace up and pull on) with a broad toe and no heel drop (in Horween leather too).
