Would you ONLY wear boots?

I’ve a pair of White’s smoke jumpers for the occasional weekend stroll in local woods. I don’t wear these in a car as can’t feel the pedals in them.

Otherwise I’m a ‘shoes guy’ - Church’s, Trickers, Paul Smith, Dr Martens, Solovair etc - I typically pair suede/roughout brogues with colored chinos for work attire, with a blazer jacket or leather jacket for dress down Fridays.

In my work office there are a few guys who are ********* boots wearers - typically brogue or double capped dress boots (Trickers or similar). These guys wear boots 365 even during hot summer days (what’s wrong with them?!).

So this prompted me to ask you distinguished gentlemanly forum fellows - any of you are the same? And if so why??

I am thinking of getting a pair of Whites 350 boots into my office wardrobe though.

I'd love to wear only boots, but due to rather poor blood circulation my feet overheat rather quickly when it's warmer than 15c. So I'm forced to switch to shoes and sandals in summer. Otherwise I'm a 100% boots guy.

I wear boots at work and probably about 95% of the time when I’m not working as well. The only time I wear shoes is when I go to the gym or the rare occasions when I wear shorts.

Forgot to say I’ve sweaty feet that overheat easily too - I keep a spare pair of loafers in office to change at lunch time :).

How do you manage the heat/sweat in summer? Or you just get used to it? When you take boots off at end of a hot day are your feet a bit puffy from the sweat?

To be honest the heat does not bother me a bit. I wear Merino wool blend socks from Costco year round and I find that they do an amazing job of wicking sweat away from the feet. When I take my boots off the end of the long day, my socks are damp, but never soggy or soaking wet.
I also have a boot dryer, made by PEET, that I use without fail. whenever I take off my boots I put them immediately on the boot dryer and leave them overnight. Not only does this make the boots last much longer than they would otherwise, it keeps them from turning into swampy stinky capsules of mold.

I only wear boots - all seasons all levels of casual/informal. But that certainly doesn’t mean I’m stomping around in big PNW boots on 105F summer days or wearing a suit and tie.

The range goes from engineer and monkey boots to some sleek Chelseas, lightweight suede desert boots, to dressy jodhpurs and chukkas.

Lightweight Gortex boots are my go to because they are so comfortable and versatile. I also have Sanders Brogue boots which I wear on occasion but aren’t suitable for driving in due to lack of pedal feel.

I wear either boots or sneakers. I wear shoes every few years for occasions where it can't be avoided.
Same here. I was trying to figure out which one I would go for if I was forced to choose one or the other, but I'm unable to.

Sneakers are easy to wear, comfy and come in all colors. Boots overall look nice and fit in more contexts than sneakers.

Is it fair to compare summer boot wearers to summer leather jacket wearers (that’s me)?

Sounds like some of us just enjoy the extra heat and sweat?

I’ve a genuine reason for wearing cross zip in summer - unzipped of course. I stand the collar up and voila I don’t need to put any sun block on upper body! I do pair it with a hemp hat to block the sun from face, and shorts just to regulate lower body temp.

Perhaps I should try it with PNW boots this summer

I’ll wear boots as often as possible, otherwise it’s sandals when it’s hot. Sneakers for the gym, and double monks when shoes are necessary for work functions or weddings.

Boots whenever appropriate. Sandals or mocs once temperatures start to hit the high 80s, dress shoes for business formal, and proper hiking shoes when hiking.

Can't seem to find bluchers in a last that works for my feet which is the primary reason.

I wear what the weather and work or activity deems appropriate.

I greatly dislike falling, however I also find the type of quite stiff, hard rubber Vibram soles used on most PNW boots is not good in snow and ice (I have fallen with these on more than once). So out come the Gore-Tex very tractable shoes & boots that have very slip-resistant soles for those conditions. I wear a lot of running shoes that actively encourage greater daily step counts when the weather warms up as well. And of course, at the gym or on the bicycle, I use correct, specific shoes built for the activity.

Wear boots 365 days or at least as close to that as possible. I live in a tropical country with pretty hot summers, and good quality leather with breathable socks makes boots wearable all year round for me. I have never felt uncomfortable or hot at all. I enjoy wearing them and watching them patina. Only time I wear sneakers is to the gym.
